How can I kill the demon and save connor and his mother? Yhe red circle is no more so I can't go to them for help. If I kill him everyone will hate me, if I let her die same thing.

There's no way to save both Connor and his mother.
You'll either allow a mage to go to the Fade and deal with the demon there, or go upstairs and kill everything that moves, including the now possesed Connor.

Either way, someone has to die.

Sorry, but this is incorrect. You can save both Connor and his mother by asking if there is another way to enter the fade without anyone dying - you will be told to go to the Circle of Mages for assistance. Once you have saved the Mage Tower, you can ask the First Enchanter for assistance with Connor and then when you return to Redcliffe Castle, you can talk to him and they will open a portal to the Fade.

Sir is right, although the first time I played the game I seemed to fall into some sort of dialog loop where going to the Circle was not an option (I could only keep asking "There must be some other way to enter the Fade", and the conversation defaulted back). It was a possible bug that's been mentioned elsewhere on the official forums, but in an all-working game where First Enchanter Irving is still alive (or the PC hasn't gone to the Tower yet) you can save both the arlessa and her son.

Well, I already killed the kid. But I kept getting 'the circle can't help us now'. Is this because I had already done the fade quest?

Probably so. If the kid is dead there is nothing for them to help with.

Hmmm... makes sense...

When I tried the option "There must me some other way bla bla" I also got nothing as a third option. But that's probably because I had already finished the Circle main quest by playing the annulment card on the magi.

Reprecussions all over the place it seems...

I'm not quite sure but I think that there is another option if your main is a mage. You can deal with the demon. The demon will "hide" inside the body of the boy and in return it will teach you blood magic!

You can do that, I don't think it matters what class you are. It would open up Blood Mage as an option for Wynne or Morrigan.

You need the mages intact in the Circle so you'd have to side with the mages in that quest line instead of the Templars. But to get into the fade you only have three options:
1. Sacrifice the mother for Joran to work his Blood Magic.
2. Go to the Tower to get the mages aid.
3. Kill Connor to kill the demon. (you do this in the castle, not the Fade).

I don't think that there is a way to actually negotiate with the demon unless your main is a mage. I tried going in the Fade playing as Morrigan and as Jowan (the Blood mage) and the negotiation option was absent. In fact Morrigan said that "she refuses to become an abomination" and cuts all the negotiation efforts right there!

Anyway yes, these are the three options you mentioned. If you havent been to the circle yet, you can simply tell the kid's family to wait, go there, dp the mages quest (and side with them obvioudly) and return with the mages without any consequences.

However...

If you pick to either proceed with the blood ritual or to seek the help of the mages it is best to first fight your way to the second floor until you get to Connor for the extra xp. You can always not kill him and tell him to wait. In your way up there, loot the castle vault key from a mob named "Chamberlain" and open the vault of the castle! That is the only way to open that door!

You can do it. I got hte blood mage to open up the fade, sent Morrigan in and killed the demon three times and voila. Both mother and son were saved.

This quest has some unexpected, frustrating dialog trees. It seems like the first time you talk to the Bann inside the castle, your course is set in stone. So choose carefully.

Being an evil character, I wanted to scream and yell about how I was going to kill children, storm in, knock out the Connor abomination, then give in to his mother's pleading and enter the fade to learn Blood Magic. The mother pleads with you, but you have no option to change your mind at that point.

My first character, a rogue, couldn't be bothered with the journey and tasks, so she knocked out the mother with a right cross and killed the child, problem solved......
whereas my son-in-law couldn't believe it, his character a "good" mage was able to save all involved...
so many options....gotta love it...

Sounds like a Bug to me.

SpoilerTHe Blood Mage is supposed to Kill Isolde to save her son. The only way to save both is to use the Circle Mages (assuming you didn't do the Rite of Annulment). There IS a bug, however. Use the Circle mages, and the Codex says she gave her life to spare her son, or something like this.
End Spoiler
