how to get keegan to take the white rum

please can anyone help me in beyond divinity i can't get keegan to take the white rum so that i can gain access to General Bram’s room i have spoken to him several times and it never comes up in the conversation i have also done everything else except that. can anyone help

take off the citadel guard armor, walk away from his line of sight, then walk back to him

kill him, get the key, then reequip guard armor
