What's going on???

Hello, I'm new to this game and i just started playing it yesterday.
I've played the demo through till the end and when i met the skeletal conjurer for the first time on the first lvl of those catacombs (you know, in the room with the ruby)
He was pretty weak, and i could easily dispatch him..

But now that i'm playing the full version, the guy kills me in 1 or 2 hits and is near impossible to overcome :/ what the hell is wrong?
I'm using the exact same char (we'll almost) as in the demo, but This just doesn't feel right... Was he intended to be stronger than in the demo or???

Stronger. Larian wanted to encourage players to roam around, so they minimized difficulty in the demo. If you want to make him weak again, start a new game and change the level of difficulty.

As for the elemental conjurer--I'm assuming you mean one of the four guardians who are each found in room under a few tiles on the bottom level of the catacomb. (The rooms are placed close to the four corners of the gigantic room.) Is this correct? If so, he and his three "associates" are deliberately tough. You don't need to kill any of 'em, but the treasures they conceal are nice. I found on my two run-throughs that the giant spider and he were the toughest. You might want to put off killing them until you've gained several levels and skills, then come back, later.

To kill skeletal conjuror

Sometimes I go out of the town before I go into the catacombs, if you have meteorstrike you can usually get 2 to 3 levels with out too much trouble, this will give you more stat points, and if you have healed the soldiers and the other quests you can do before you enter the catacombs you should be at around level 7 so you can put another point on Meteorstrike.
