Small spoiler: Confused on endgame cinematic

Finished the game this evening and after watching the end movie, I'm confused....

What the hell is the deal with the falling statue at the end?

Can't tell you yet--I haven't had the time to play as much as I would like. What level was your character when you finished?

Mid 40's. About five levels of that come automatically before the last phase of the game, and the last dungeon was responsible for another 2 or 3.

How much of the game's side quests (that you're aware of) didn't you finish? I've been attempting everything I come across. My character's currently level 34.

I did nearly everything. Only things I missed were Jake in the poor district's graveyard/kidnapped woman quest, the alchemist in the dark forest (tho I did the tree, for the demon summoning quest), the holy grail portion of the Boratus-has-turned-us-into-animals quest, and I believe that's absolutely it. Oh, and I didn't do the secret treasure (four part map) quest.

This character wasn't especially aggressive in hunting monsters for xp.... I didn't touch the sewers (except a small part, for a quest) at all, for example.

Did you notice that Corinna did not, in fact, teach you Demon Summoning? She taught you Banish, instead. It's another bug.

I noticed. As it turns out, though, the demon summoning spell is rather lame.At level 40 something I could still only put about three points in it, which meant my demon was totally outclassed by the critters I was fighting in that part of the game.

Unless you're playing a mage, I tend to stay away from Summoning spells. I'd rather use my skill points, elsewhere. l will use those charming little scorpion traps, and they're pretty tough, but they're also much more costly than the mana-powered summons.

I'm trying to run through with a mage right now, and I'm discovering it's far harder to rely on spells (at least around level ~15). I'm -much- more dependent on potions then my warrior was.

I can see where that would be the case. I'm sure you'll be getting alchemy-to-the-max, buying all the scorpion traps you can, and performing quite a few summons.

Finished it last night, used the highly overpowered Singing Blade, without it I might have found things more difficult. Took me two goes and a use of flash attack and that was basically it.

I don't have a clue what the statue thing is about either, I feel like it is a joke, but I don't get it *shrug*

Finished on level 46 I think.

Actually, I finally found out what the statue thing is about.

Remember back in the -very- beginning when you have to rotate the dragon statues so you can gain entrance to the catacombs beneath the town? When you do, the central statue flies up into the air. According to Larian, it stayed pretty much in orbit until the endgame, when it drops to earth.

I haven't been able to make up my mind if that's clever or stupid

Ah good one, I had forgotten about that...still I suppose it fits the mood of the game very well. Some of the wit in that game is really good, such as the "Don't believe everything you read" tip. I thought it might be a segue to a sequel. Does anyone think a sequel is likely?
