3 noob questions about DD

Hi everybody, I'm new to DD and I'm loving it so far. I'm curious though about three things which I find annoying. I'm wondering if anyone could help me out.:

I'm looking for a way (if there's indeed a way) to achieve the following.:

1- Is there a way to eliminate the "blackness" that surrounds you when you enter an inexplored area?? It's ok in catacombs and teh like but in outside areas it cuts the immersion of the game.

2- I would like to know if it is possible to reconfigure the quick-keys. I'd like to drink up health potions useing "shift" key instead of "F2".

3- Finally, I've noticed that mana doesn't recover with time. So...is there a way to change that???

Thanks in advance for your help!!

1 and 2: I'm afraid not. They're built into the game, and I don't believe it's moddable.

3: I'm not sure, as it's been a while since I played. There are items, randomly distributed, that can increase life gradually back to full, but I don't recall having encountered any for mana. You might want to look on the developers' website, and see if the questions has been asked, before. If not, try asking, there.

We do our best, here, but very few folks have played it. Still, feel free to post, and be sure to check out our SYM (Speak Your Mind) forum for generally silly and serious non-gaming subjects.

I know life can be replenished by putting points into one of the Survivor skills, IIRC. As far as mana replenishment goes, you can either buy a weapon that drains mana from monsterss, make potions from certain areas, or eat oranges(though I'm fairly sure this is a small and temporary mana boost). I just took a look at the DD game site, and there should be a way to reconfigure the keys. Hopefully, either the manual or some in-game help will assist.

Eating fish also gives a small mana boost (can be useful when you're in the sewers or a similar area)...

Smile

Chicken meat will replenish some mana, too.
