How bout that? | well, the amazon thing really wouldnt work, theres already a barbarian and an amazon.
wizards and sorcerers, are completely different, one studies to obtain power, the other comes by it naturally.
wood elves are a race of elves, not a perticular class.
why not call them both paladins? they work for temples as one.
and why not call them both assassins, or the guy a shinobi? Quote: |

| | | Yeah, and those characters seem to simply be the original ones split. By doing that, you are making the characters a lot less independent. It would be great as a team based game, however it would be extremely challenging playing a defensive only character into a single player game. |

| I would strongly caution against any character with uniques abilities for boosting magic find. I am not saying it couldn't work (the Barb skill "Find Item" worked just fine the way it was set up), but this just seems like something that would be badly exploited. It would likely take a herculean effort to keep this balanced with other classes.
And from the OP, it appears that many of the original minds for the Diablo series have left Blizzard and gone off to other studios like ArenaNet and Flagship Studios. If you google "Diablo 3" you will probably find all sorts of speculation whirling around, but just remember it is still just speculation. |

and i dont see how they can make a D3 anyways. you kill the three brothers, and shatter the world stone... what else is there to do? | From what I remember, the world stone keeps the powers of both Heaven and Hell from flooding into the world. The world stone's been destroyed, so technically, anyone could waltz in right now.
I'd put that idea to friends like 2 years ago, but it never took. I'd love to see Heaven actually invade this time. Fight all those angels and archangels; maybe they rationalize the invasion by saying it was in order to try and protect the world, as sort of a defensive mechanism, because they know Hell's forces are poised to invade, too.

| | | -id like to see the choice of alignment. maybe its just me, but i think there's something to be said for playing an evil character. how you would work that into player to player interaction etc i have no idea, but it would be sweet.
-take out some of the hours and hours of "runs" from d2. my idea of a good time is not wiping out cows for hours on end trying to reach the elusive next lvl. while the odd meph run is entertaining, it takes so long to find any elite items. you can play for months and never find a decent rune.
-add random/more quests: just little sidequests to spice up the game a bit. EI Rescue a stranded caravan, destroy a carver base, carry a message to little johnny out in the middle of that monster infested forest.

| Hours and hours of runs is nothing you need to do in order to finish the game. Hours and hours of runs is something you can choose to do for XP or items, or you can choose not to do it. You can't really ask Blizzard to do something to stop your own behaviour Quote: |

| ROFL! Carry a message to little Jonny and rescue a stranded caravan would spice up the game? Well, taste differ, that kind of meaningsless quasi-story quests is one of the things I dislike the most with RPG:s.
It sounds like you want DIII to be more like Neverwinter nights and other CRPG:s. I don't - I like D2 for the action game it is. I really hope Blizzard will develop the character and skill system as well as monsters and items. I really hope they will keep the fast playing action style and the strategy features that are typical for D2. There are heaps of RPG games where people can identify with their characters, solve heroic quests and run errands for the villagers - in my opinion we don't need more of that.

| | Personally, Diablo and D2 are purely hack and slash or cast the biggest fireball you can at the minions. That is diablo. It is a FPS in RPG form and that is what it should remain as. Yes, develop the skills a little and improve the AI a bit (remember who brought us Starcraft), but other than that, don't change much. Oh, the bloody resolution could be changed as well. 800x600 is just too large for me.

| | i hope they make the sorcs a little bit better than they were in D2, you really only have about 3 or 4 good builds and you look like jennifer friggin lopez ....i guess it's a pretty small aspect of the game seeing as how no one seems to even be sure if it's getting released any time soon (even by blizzard standards) but nevertheless i'm dying to see that fire-hurling, angel-zapping, demon-ummm...rehabilitating madman with variety, flashy moves, and a maniacal laugh...HUZZAH! |

| | Well i just came across something interesting on THIS SITE!
Rumor: Diablo III On the Way? You Better Believe It!
Diablo Foxtrot Style!
It looks like the Diablo III rumor mill has started up once again with a seemingly innocent post on the jobs section of the Blizzard web site. A few days ago they posted a job for an art director and various leads to join "the team behind Diablo I and II" for "an unannounced PC project." I have been getting some inquires since then if Blizzard is indeed working on Diablo III and when is it going to come out?
Well, before I answer let me mention a few things. First, I don't want to get any of my friends at Blizzard in trouble, so from instead of mentioning "Diablo III" let's call this theoretical game "Beelzebub 3" and instead of "Blizzard" let's call them "Snowstorm". Second, my information is quality stuff, but it is a little old, so take that with a gain of salt. Third, err, well, there is no third, so let's get into what I know!
Let's the obvious out of way, "Snowstorm" is indeed working on "Beelzebub 3". Not only are they working on it, but they have been working on this game for no less than the past four years. In fact, "Snowstorm North" nearly completed the game several years ago, but what they developed just "wasn't fun" and been quietly reworked. This was actually one of the key reasons why Snowstorm North was closed and everyone was relocated to Irvine-based Snowstorm, so that the bigwigs in Irvine could better track and follow the development of Beelzebub 3.
As for what to expect in to see in Beelzebub 3, believe it or not but those rumors that were floating around a few months ago about the game were fairly accurate (by the way, I have no idea who started these rumors or where they came from). According to the rumors:
"Diablo 3 takes place in heaven. Hell is trying to take it over and it is AWESOME looking … Imagine the brightness of heaven being taken over by the darkness of hell … Imagine WoW but in a Diablo world in amount of size and playability … Also, guild housing is available in this game for those of you who know about it."
This information was pretty dead-on. It is true that Beelzebub 3 will be done in true 3D and it did indeed look freaking awesome. It is also true that Beelzebub 3 features a story between the conflicts of Heaven and Hell and contains a very cool feature where every single item in the game can change between a "light" version and a "dark" version. However this was also one of the problems with the original version of the game. Other than the ability for any item to visually change from light to dark it didn't affect the actual stats of the item or change the gameplay in any way. So the game has gone through a total rework to inject some "fun" into the gameplay and to make it feel like the Beelzebubs of old.
The core gameplay Beelzebub 3 will play pretty much like Beelzebub 1 and 2, but the game world will be much larger and provide a much deeper experience -- many more items, more levels when you go through the game for first time, more skills, more of everything. In addition, the multiplayer aspect will be greatly enhanced from the past installments and don't be surprised to see more than a couple of WoW-based concepts to leak over into the Beelzebub 3 universe ... such as two opposing factions (Alliance and Horde = Heaven and Hell), enhanced guild functionality, and maybe even mounts?!
As for when Beelzebub 3 will released, that one is easy to answer ... when it's done. Snowstorm is in no rush to finish this game and will release it only after they feel it's perfect. And after the fiasco of StarCraft: Ghost -- which has been announced for years and is currently going through its second round of redesign and reprogramming -- Snowstorm is in no rush to announce Beelzebub 3. Don't except an announcement until the game is near completion.
But there is some good news; that "leak" on the Snowstorm jobs page was no accident. If they are starting to leak information about Beelzebub 3 then they are starting to get closer to a final release. Of course for Snowstorm something "getting close" can mean two years from now.
Hopefully that will hold everyone over for the short term. Hopefully Beelzebub 3 will be announced at the next E3, I'll try to find out more before then and give everyone the dirt as I get it. |
