how can we be allowed to use magic in the city?

I read somewhere that we can be licenced to use magic in the city for 5000gp but I cant remember where. Please advize.

That sounds like Baldurs Gate II that you are talking about.

I really have never heard of any stories behind casting magic in the city.

But in Baldur's Gate II, there is a way to cast magic in the city, but it requires about 5k gold...so Im guessing you got the two confused.

There is a cheat code in Diablo 1 called townkill, in which the player is allowed to fight inside town........ I don't think there is one for D2 though.....
