Diablo II display options?

I am a huge fan of this game. Not of the in-game lag, though. So recently I finally upgraded to a P4 with a 128Mb ATI video card and Flat Panel display. I cannot believe the graphics! Yikes!!! Is there anything I can do improve them ... other than wait for Diablo III?

If you have the expansion "Lord of Destruction" you can change between 800x600 and 1024x768 screen resolutions. Diablo II with no expansion is 800x600.
I seriously reccommend getting LoD for this reason only. Plus, it's a great expansionpack.

Edit: While the graphics won't be extremely much better, the reason I feel it's almost a necessity is because the interface gets sooo much easier and less..annoying to navigate.

Yarr, I think you are wrong about the screen resolutions. Diablo II Classic is only available at 640x480 and with the LoD Expansion you can change it to 800x600.

I do have have the expansion and it still looks like crap. Of course I am in Act 1 (just recently installed it on the new machine) so I do not know if it will improve in the other acts.

Is there a 3D mod for the game that you know about?

I can't say I have looked, but I would be extraordinarily surprised if there where a 3D mod to Diablo II. I think there is no option but to suffer the graphics and wait for III.

When asking about graphics changing, are you asking about graphics in general, or the environments? In my opinion, Act I is the most basic layout, with not much to look at compared to Act V. Oh and check out the arreat summit when you get there (Act V, Ancients Quest)

Ah, I was correct, but I just thought the resolutions were a notch higher than they were

And no, sorry, I don't know of any mods or patches like that. I think it's just fine. (Then again, I'm playing games from the 80's atm)
