| | Have any new races been considered for FR games? I was wondering if any D&D Forgotten Realms games were to feature any newer races. Recently, they added Half-Orcs via Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.
What have been considered to be added?
Also, here are some ideas I had.
1) Gythianki (sp?)
2) Gitszverai (sp?)
3) Half-Dwarf
4) Half-Ogre
So, what's the word with this? |

| | | Well, Planescape: Torment featured a Githerzai as a party member, also a tiefling, a succubus...and a floating skull.
Icewind Dale II includes Drow, Tieflings, Duergar, and Aasamir as playable races, as well as a few others.

| | | Well Icewind Dale II was a new 3rd Ed. game...certainly more recent than Baldur's Gate II.
I think you would have saved us both time if you'd just been more specific in the first place. I bid thee adieu.

4) Half-Ogre | They are in Savage Species.

| | | Interesting that you bring those up, craig.
I know that by MM you mean Monster Manual. 'Savage Species' is definitely new to me, as is what you've said about Half-Dwarves (though if the book that's from is good, I'll probably want to read about it). And what does LA stand for?
BTW, if I were to go into the Neverwinter Nights forum, would there be any answers to questions about sub-races waiting for me? I've wondered if that has been worked out. |

| | | The book about the dwarves is 2ed. Thats all I know. LAs are Level Adjustments, you add them to HD(Hit Dice) to make ECLs(Equivilent character levels). SS Has tthe explanation for LAs and ECLs in there but it only has the half-ogre race. It does however have a slew of feats, magic items, PRCs and a way to gain Monster levels.

| | | Well, here are some ideas I had for races, any details being based upon 3rd Edition D&D used in Icewind Dale 2:
1) Half-Dragon. I would see this race (if it were put in a game) getting +2 bonuses to Charisma and Strength, as well as some minor Spell Resistance, darkvision, and a Level 2 spell of some sort as an innate ability. For penalties, Half-Dragons would recieve a +3 level adjustment, and -2 to Hide and Move Silently checks. Favored Classes are Fighter for Male, and Sorceror for Female.
2) Half-Goblin. This race would recieve +2 to Dexterity and Constitution, darvision, and bonuses to hide and move silently. Penalty would be -4 to Charisma. Favored Classe is Fighter.
I know they're both human half-breeds, but I got thinking of those after playing IWD2 lately. What do you think, Craig? |

| | | The half-dragon is a template, it adds to an existing race.
The half-goblin isn't in D&D (not the P&P), the nearest is the hobgoblin, they get +2 to dex and con, Darkvision 60ft and +4 to move silently.

They have some minor qualities of their drow parents, but otherwise are treated like normal Half-Elves.
A cross between two elf sub-races is just a plain old elf. Whatever home region that elf has determines which traits it has. For instance, if your 'grey elf' had Comanthyr Drow as its home region, then it would be considered to have drow traits. If they had a region where the opposite parent lived, then they'd be considered a Moon Elf, which is what the common elf is known as, especially in the Forgotten Realms.
There is a Grey Elf sub-race given under the Elf entry in the (3.5 Edition) Monster Manual. They recieve a -2 penalty to Strength, and a +2 bonus to Intelligence, but retain all the other qualities of the Elf race. |
