BG p&p

I'm currently involved in a p&p group and we are playing
'Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil' and I was wondering.

Has anyone ever tried actually playing the Baldurs Gate story?

I haven't tried, but I can imagine at least one difficulty: it centers around one character, the child of Bhaal. Players might not like that, unless they're the type that don't mind not being in the spotlight. You have to admit, the whole point of fantasy roleplaying is creating a world where you're in the spotlight, at least locally.

me and my friends have. my friends kept getting in fights over who should be the child of Bhaal but after a couple of paer rock sissors and a couple rocks turning into fists in the face we decided that my dear friend jack a 200 pound idiot should be the child of bhaal

The story could be bent around of course, it wouldnt be as fun, besides why would you want to play the main character if you die you cant be resurected and so on.

Well you may not mean to offend anybody - but the forum rules states quite clearly:
