Anyone playing on Eberron?

It's been a long, long time since anyone posted on this forum. Are there people on this forums who are actually playing on Eberron? If so, what do you think of the world?
I've heard the sourcebook Sharn: City of Towers is actually quite good...

If I recall correctly, Stilgar plays Eberron.
I've heard some interesting stories from him and I'd like to hear what else he's been up to in Eberron.

Yes I play in Ebberon, but to be honest, we just started playing DnD and we decided to start with it.
So i havent got anything to compare it with, and we havent explored the world as good as we could, since we are just exploring the game first.

But any (more or less) specific questions i try to awnser.

My group will be playing in Eberron eventually, but we need to finish our current games before hand.

Do you have some Eberron products yet? If so, could you tell me what you think of them?

My friend, who'd be running the campaign, has picked up the campaign setting book. It's got some fun stuff in there. Couple new races: Changling, Warforged, and another one which I can't recall at the moment. The warforged has been redone for Eberron, though, making it a more balanced player race.

Also, a new class: The Artificer. Now this guy is fun. Essentially, the only point of the Artificer class is to make items. At higher levels, he essentially becomes the means of securing the more powerful items in the setting.

All in all, I'm a big fan of the abundant low-level magic, and rare high-level magic items in the game, as well as the history surrounding it. In some ways, it's akin to the Argyle setting created by SOS studios.

I'm looking forward to taking a whirl in Eberron. Sadly, it won't be for another couple months (we have two games going on, and we're waiting for at least one to finish).

And......you've got me interested . Argyle is so cool. It's just a shame there never were many people playing on the server.
But what about the battle between good and evil? Are there organizations like the Zhentarim or the Iron Throne out there? And how important are the deities in daily life?

I'll have to take another peak at the book before I can give you those details. What I've gathered regarding religion, though, is that Eberron was created by Dragon's. This has resulted in something called Dragon marks, which I have yet to read up on.

Thanks, I'd appreciate that

It sounds like it's more interesting then I thought it could be.

Especially the low magic part, the Forgotten Realms has to much magic in my opinion.

Yeah, for instance the 'teleport' spell kills the fun of being on the road.
You could house rule a 7th level spell limit of course. And that way 8th and 9th level spells are only available to epic characters...

My understanding is that Eberron takes a much more realistic view of good and evil, in that these aren't really factors in everyday dealings and are left as subjective judgements. Just as many people feel that all politicians are evil, the politicians themselves probably don't consider themselves evil. While some monsters are typically pretty bad, there is a chance that you'd meet a nice gnoll. Even a priest from a good religion might be caught doing bad things. Dieties are far removed from the world, and I doubt you would ever actually meet one or an avatar. I think conflict is not so much good vs evil, but more personal: us vs them, monarchy vs dictatorship, that kind of thing. But, I've only browsed through parts of the setting, and never played. I'm sure the actual setting will vary by DM's preferences....

From my brief encounter with the campaign setting, I think the issue of alignment is done away with in its entirety.

I thought I'd start a thread here to so whether people are actually interested in Eberron (i.e in this forum). It seems few people played on Eberron yet, but many people want to know things about it and are curious.

That's kind of the way we're dealing with alignments sometimes.

BTW: Some people on a Forgotten Realms-based forum somewhere on the internet, are pretty enthousiastic about Eberron. Something I really didn't expect.
