My restart of WoW

As I have had lots of free time in my hands during last couple of weeks, I decided to restart playing WoW again. From my last session before the restart has been about two months and I had a hard time to remember where I was with my old character (Human Paladin) I decided create a new character, Bloodelf Rogue.
First thing I noticed when entering capital the first time, there is no more gold selling ads posted in trade channel. So, it's true that Blizzard has worked hard to get rid of them, as during these last two weeks I haven't seen even a single advertise of gold selling sites or hack sites. It's very refreshing, as I remember how I hated those advertisements posted all the time, literally flooding the trade channel.
Speaking of the trade channel, what I still don't like is that it's basically used for both trading and normal chatting. What I have gathered before I temporaly quited playing couple of months ago is that there used to be specific channel for chatting, which was removed by Blizzard. Now, in general I don't have anything against chatting in the game, I do that myself with my guildmates in guild channel, but when the discussion gets very "heated", or in other words, the discussion goes fast, there is high chance that the trading messages goes unnoticed as those get outside of the visible section of the window pretty fast.
Another things I have noticed lately is that the old saying "The larger the group, the higher the stupidity" is pretty true in case of WoW. For this I have two very good examples:
First one, I was killing monsters in area that contains monsters around level 20. As a level 19 rogue, I have to be a bit careful to stay alive, but the problems aren't that big. Once when I was killing the monsters, level 5 character showed up to the area. Firstly I thought that the guy was just lost, and didn't pay any attention to him. Then I noticed that one level 21 monster was chasing him, so I decided to give my helping had and killed that monster. Just when I had regenerated my health I noticed that there was another monster, level 20, chasing this guy. Again, as I knew the guy hadn't had any chance against the monster, I killed the monster. Note that I didn't get any experience nor was able to loot those two corpses because the level 5 character had already "tapped" them. When the monster was dead, I whispered to the guy that perhaps he was a bit wrong place, as he couldn't possibly survive there. He didn't pay any attention to my whisper, instead went and attacked level 22 monster, then started to run towards me. It seemed that he wanted me to kill the monster for him, so that he could get the experience and loot, so I just stepped back and watched as the monster slayed the character with two hits. Few seconds after that the guy started cursing to me trough whisper, calling me noob and other names as well. I ended up reporting the guy and blocking him, and haven't heard of him after that.
Second example happened just earlier today. I was ending a quest when another character invited me to his group and opened trading window to me. For few moments nothing happened, he didn't put anything to the window, so I just closed it and declined the invitation. For that the other player said "Open the box", so I realised that he wanted me to unlock box to him. I declined, just because I didn't feel to help a guy who thinks that others will do things to them without them being polite. As I walked away the guy cursed me through the whisper, for which I just replied that perhaps I had helped him if he had asked politely. He apologized, then asked if I had other character in allied side. For my question why he asks he replied that he had other character which was twink, so perhaps the other character could help my other character. I didn't accept the offer by saying that I don't have character in allies side, though I actually have. The guy began to lecturing me how I should create another character to allied side just so that his character could help my character so that I could open the box for him. I wasn't interesting the idea, so declined. Five minutes he tried to persuade me, and the I just ended up blocking him as he didn't seem to understand that I didn't want to create new character but play with my current one.
These two were only short examples of how unpolite the community of WoW is at times. No, not everyone acts such way as my examples, but too many does. Is it actually hard to be polite towards other players? There area players that camp at the graveyards of other factions so that they can kill over and over again the opposite faction members, especially if the camper is higher level and the target is at lower level. Such situation happened to me once couple of days ago.
As we are talking about the PvP of the game, I joined battlegrounds the very first time in my all time history in WoW. The battlegrounds are good idea, they are fun to play and the rewards are worthy. There is only one bad thing about battlegrounds: if your character isn't a twink, then you probably have no possibilities to kill anything there, usually even staying alive is nearly impossible for long. The problem is that even though the battlegrounds are divided to different levels of characters, and even if you are at the highest level for that level area, if you are a character which has around the normal equipment for that level, you just don't have any chances, as any twink character eats you as a breakfast. So, all the fun from battleground is taken away by the fact that it's basically only for twinks. For example, I was attaining in a match where besides me in my side was three "normal" characters and one twink. Enemies had 5 characters too, two of them were twinks. We were leading 2 - 0 the match when the twink from our side left. Immediately others posted that we had no chance as we didn't have any twinks in our ranks, so everybody else too left the battle, leaving only me against the enemy. Well, I decided to leave as well as there was no point for me to even try. So, the thing that Blizzard could do better in case of battlegrounds would be to make twinks their own version of and "normal" players their own. That way players like me who doesn't have the best possible equipment for that level nor has even closely enough money to buy such equipment to be able to enjoy the battlegrounds better.
Even though I have listed couple of "negative" sides of WoW which I have noticed, it has been fun to play it again, especially as I managed to get to a guild that is active and friendly one.

| | I've also encountered rude and impolite pricks before the last time I played MMOs in the past. Some intentionally attack a monster you're attacking, cursing at you if you decline to join their party or help them, etc, etc, etc. What can I say? That's the reality. There will always be bad apples among the good ones. |
