Im trying...I really am...

Neverwinter Nights 2.

I want to enjoy this game...I really really do. And I have up to a point. I like that you can make and develop your character how you want...I like that you have all these interesting folks join you on your adventuring...I like the general idea of the game and that its so faithful to true D&D gaming.

What I dont like is the bugs. And gods above there are a LOT of them! One in particular is really agitating the hell out of me right now. I am essentially stuck and can go no farther until I find some way to get past this rather large and annoying bug. I am in the Sunken Flagon and am talking to the wizards descendant and she goes off to bed and there is supposed to be a cut scene loading...but mid-load I get booted back to the desktop! Ive tried it numerous times, tweaking how I speak to her each time...and it matters not how I interact with her....every single time it goes to transition I get booted! ARRRRRRGH!!!

Im THIS close to completely giving up on this game! I am so sick of running into bugs and glitches I could just scream! And people wonder why there are so many gamers that completely ignore PC gaming in favor of a console! Im beginning to think its time to break down and buy a PS3 or Xbox 360! I bet I wouldnt be having these issues playing on one of those! And the graphics on a next gen console are just as good if not better than any PC game in comparison! The days of PC superiority are numbered I do believe. With todays technical know-how consoles are fast approaching and soon surpassing anything a PC can offer...with more accessability and far less hassle!

Makes me really think that PC gaming is going to die off and fade away just as the dinosaurs did. Cant compete...you get beat. Simple as that.

Sorry to hear about your issues.

Bug are very subjective for a larger part.
I usually rarely run into the amount of bugs I read other complain about on forums such as this. So while I do sympathize with people who run into game-breaking bugs or issues, it often makes me think there is more at works here then simply the game code. Otherwise more people would experience the breaks at the exact same places, and in the case of triggers in NwN2 not being activated, it looks to be very sporadic and random.

Hardware issues is often a cause of crashes to desktop for example, yet because they happen in specific applications, it is often the applications which get the blame. It is for instance why Windows often has bad rep from people for crashing, even though it many times were hardware issues. The price we pay for using a PC with its customizability is problems - it costs to be "free"

In the case of NwN2 however, it looks notoriously as having problems triggering specific triggers - I myself however have not had many of them which couldn't be solved with a reload.

But I doubt very much that such issues will have any consequence on the PC as a gaming platform. If it was to - it would have already.
