Mass Effect running on PC better than yours

Posted 05-30-2008 at 08:46 PM by DesR85
I was browsing Kotaku a while ago and came across this article titled: Mass Effect PC Running On A Machine Better Than Yours.

After reading that article, you just wonder whether those developers who created these 'graphically demanding' games really designed them properly before release. I always keep hearing of performance problems no matter how high or low-end a PC is and how adjusting graphical details seem to yield little to no improvements.

I agree completely. My buddy spent about $3k on upgrades for his laptop, granted it's a laptop and towers are better equipped for upgrades, but still. He installed Assasin's Creed and it runs good except for one thing. Quite often the objects and people in the game will flash in and out of view at a very fast rate, and if you al-tab and reopen the window it stops. Unfortunately it happens way too often. I would prefer to just play the games I know will run smooth and let me have fun, not games that frustrate me.

It seems like they focus too much on shiny visuals instead of the other aspects of the game. Strange thing is, great graphics sell, even if the game lacks polish, according to an article I read a long time ago. All this just encourage them to continue in this trend.
