Poor poor Chelsea

Football warning (no, football - you know, played with the feet, not the hands)

So, Chelsea has been busted for "poaching" a player and must not sign new contracts until 2011.
Harsh, very harsh and of course they've appealed it. The problem is this type of poaching is a common practice in the world of international football and it seems much more like FIFA have been out to punish a high profile club to set examples more then actually treating it fair.

But I have a solution. Instead of having Chelsea signing new players. Then set up a dummy corporation which handles the signings - unrelated to Chelsea.
Then this company can hire out the players to Chelsea and thus the rules are circumvented.

Sort of like a temp-agency hiring out cleaning staff and what not

I still resent Chelsea for tapping up Ashley Cole from Arsenal years ago, and thus I couldn't be happier with ban.

In any case, Mr. Abrahimovic has been cutting back on Chelsea's spending. For instance, they didn't make any notable signings this season, partially because the players they were targeting either snubbed the advances, or were snapped up by another club.

Besides, your suggestion wouldn't work either. After the transfer of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to the Premier League, UEFA has banned any third party from owning a player.

Then the dummy company will just rent the player from the player himself, and thus it isn't a third party owning the player

There's talk of Man.U also being hit by this as well. Would you be happy if it hits a club you support?
I don't support Chelsea by the way - I just think this is scarring the sport needlessly.

Not that I think there shouldn't be rules, but this seems totally out of proportion and looks to be nothing but punishing a high profile club just because they can.

If they don't make an example out of a big club, then the tapping on is bound to continue. Not that punishing Chelsea would mean it will instantly stop either. At the very least, clubs will think twice about doing it in the future.

And no, I wouldn't be happy if it hit the club I support. But I am also not happy with all this tapping up business. It denies smaller clubs the talent and money that would have otherwise been rightfully theirs. If a club wanted to do business, I'd prefer if it was done the right way.

Problem is that they hit it disproportionate. And they do so only because of the size and wealth.

If it was some minor club, they'd properly only get a small fine or deducted a few points.

Stopping new signings for more then 1 year is devastating for any competitive club.

And no - it will not stop nor hinder the tapping/poaching. It was simply because Chelsea got busted - it will happen continuously. It is a part of the game where athletes are the commodity.

It would actually be very much fun if they hit Man U. with a similar penalty. 'Cause whereas Chelsea is often disliked, Man U. has somewhat of an icon status amongst many. That perhaps would bring more focus to the proportions of the penalty.
