It's madness, and its on a stick.

Fate out to get you?

Do you believe in Luck?
Now, I’m not one to believe in anything – I am not religious, I don’t believe in fate, luck or anything along those lines.
But I am indeed starting to feel cursed and as if “something” out there is out to get me.
I’ve always been what can be considered “unlucky” when it comes to pretty much anything – however not believing in such nonsense myself I’ve always ignored it as – well, chance.
For example; Once many years ago being the only time I ever got every match correct on a pools coupon (13 correct out of 13), the payout was like 1% of what it normally is because everybody won. *sigh*
From there on out, I’ve never actually won anything much except a few bucks here and there, leaving me seriously in deficit if calculating all money I’ve gambled up.
Another example was on these on line casinos back in the late 90s. Suddenly I ran into a losing streak of something like 20+ times red on the roulette while playing black. Fun for the whole family right there. Luckily – I managed to come out with a bit of a plus, but not as much as I could have. Stupid of me I know.
Now I’m down to match fixing. Whenever I want a team to win – I bet on the opposing team.
This has become such a trend that my colleagues and friends now ban me from playing on their favorite teams.
Everybody that knows me have remarked on my magnificent ability to create sensations in sports by betting. At first I thought it was just me, but well – when everybody else starts commenting…..
I have countless examples on this; one of the more spectacular was some years ago when Denmark played Sweden in football (soccer for you USAians) and I had bet on Sweden. Then just as I was about to cash in, a spectator runs into the field and swings as the referee – yes, literally strikes out against him.
This of course means the match gets cancelled and the bet gets nullified (payout of 1)….. Yeah, thanks so much for my payout.
So I’ve all but stopped betting on sports – well not really, but only small amounts (yes, lab rats learn faster than me) and mostly to annoy colleagues when they tease me (having their favorite team loose will show them – hah
).
But then I started dabbling in the stock market. And yes – you guessed it, right at the financial crisis began.
Clever as I am, with all the insight I posses, I managed to buy up stocks when they were very low and managed to average out my portfolio leaving me pretty much in zero. Then the market started stabilizing a bit, however every “expert” said it would crash again – so I though, okay – sell now, and cash in on the and buy more as they fall again.
So no sooner thought, then done… and what happens – the stocks rise another 15% over the last week.
So now I can conclude that I also control global finance with my financial movement, as well as sports.
Yes, I am starting to think somebody or something is out to get me ….

lol!
I'm not the betting type, and I can't say I've dabbled in the stock market either.. but I do know what you mean.
Over the last ten or so years my SO and I have had extraordinarily bad "luck" in terms of poorly timed large purchases, career endeavours etc.
And, though neither of us really believe in "fate,"luck" or whatever.. it really has felt as though we've pissed some deity off or something...
So yeah... I hear you!Posted 07-23-2009 at 10:51 PM by dragon wench

A few autumns ago I followed one course of creative writing, while styding English. There I read a story of a former student, now half-renowned writer, about a woman who was so ultimately average that her every action had some kind of global repercussion. She alone was the pivotal axis of all of society. Godlike in one sense, but completely helpless in the other.

Stay the hell out of the DOW, I'm just starting to get my money back.
I'm the opposite of you, I have good luck(I'm just having a bad luck spree at the moment
) Except when I don't need the luck, like during "friendly" compitation(nor can I spell).Posted 07-24-2009 at 08:30 PM by Sain
