It's madness, and its on a stick.
What more do you want?
What more do you want?

Yes, even I am on Twitter now.

I've always disliked the idea of Twitter. Small insignificant messages posted to those who'll listen.
It strikes me as a trend I'll have to blog about more in depth at some point, but yes, I've surcumbed now. Just as I have with blogs - being an it-profesional I have to keep with the times anyway, so I'll excuse myself with that
Sure it is fun enough to post small messages, but ultimately - it seems just as a tool for somebody to measure their worth by how many "friends" they have.
Oh well - perhaps I'll find something fun there, but for the time being - I'm tweeting away as well. I'm just a lemming under the name "svelmoe"

lol! Yep, I've noticed you there
Truth be told, I still don't have the faintest idea what to do with it. I mean I already use both MSN and Gmail chat, I have a Facebook page (which I don't check much either), I am well connected by email... I'm just not sure what use I have for Twitter
The amusing thing is that a friend of mine is what could be described as "technophobic." Yet, bizarrely enough, she has suddenly taken to Twitter like the proverbial duck to water. This is a woman who won't participate in forums, was dragged kicking and screaming to Facebook by friends and family, has never used IMs in her life... and although she had access to a computer... typed all her papers out on a manual typewriter (simultaneously calculating the necessary room at the bottom of the page for footnotes) while completing her BA...
Yet...she *loves* Twitter... It perplexes me.Posted 02-25-2009 at 06:38 PM by dragon wench

Well, I'm not totally convinced myself, but I don't use it only for friends but find it an easy way to connect to strangers more or less.
I like Twitter more then I do FaceBook for example, as I've always viewed FaceBook as a cesspool of carelessness.
Plus I use it for search engine optimizing/blog reasons as well, and then because I'm always interested in what's happening online so I better can rant about it
Basically - I mostly see it as an extended form for "online message" for an IM program (messenger/trillian what not).
So I guess "micro-blogging" might indeed be a proper term for it.
Anyways I am updating regularly at the moment while I play around.Posted 02-26-2009 at 01:54 AM by Xandax
