Daylight "Saving" Time

Posted 11-08-2007 at 05:41 PM by dragon wench
OK... it's just past 4:30 and it is already getting dark!
I really, really *hate* "Daylight Savings" time, and I just don't see the point of having it.
Personally, I don't care about an hour extra light in the morning, I'm usually too sleepy to notice anyway. But in the afternoon... that is when it actually matters!

*sigh* I'd just love to see this idiotic notion banished forever...

Actually - the time we have now is the "right" (standard) one and it is the summer time which is the introduced aka fictive one

@Xandax,
*sigh*
Well, regardless, I still hate this particular version of time... It gets too damn dark in the winter... I'd rather we kept to the other system.

Don't mind me, I think I'm probably being grumpy or something
It's just that I detest these dark and rainy, coastal winters. Give me snow and cold any time.

I like switching to standard time - gives me an hour sleep for free. Cause I hate it the other way - cause [they] steal an hour from me

Agreeing with Xan here... it's so fun to have that one "extra hour" of sleep, even though it's balanced later. Also, at the time when I still drank alcohol, it was especially fun to have that extra hour as that meant that almost all the bars which were open to 4 a.m were open one hour more than normal evening (at 4 a.m the clock is turned to 3 a.m, which means that there is stil one more hour before the bar closes)

I tend to agree with remaining on the one (This one) time instead of constantly messing with the getting up an hour earlier.

I don't see how it actually does as the term implies.

Well I figure we should have either one or the other, because switching constantly between the two is just silly. However, I do prefer non standard time. Bear in mind though, I don't hang out in bars till the early morning hours, and I live in a place where it is dark and rainy from about mid-October to mid March... So, for me, that extra hour of light in the afternoon would be really nice. At least with snow... it reflects light, and you often have bright, cold days as well. There's also something invigorating about drawing in great big lungfuls of cold air ... This damp, rainy crap is simply squishy and miserable.. *sigh*

Oh, in case anybody missed it, I *really* *really* hate rainy, coastal winters... And having less light in the evening/afternoon just amplifies their gloominess
