Connecting... Access Granted!

Posted 11-27-2007 at 05:33 PM by Kipi

Just FYI, I'm back online again.

I finally got my connection working, including my e-mail and so on.

For those who are interested, my internet provider managed to close my e-mail because it was moved under new contract (mine). They just forgot to notify me that such action is necessary during moving. After that, they failed to tell me that there is time limit between closing the e-mail and re-opening it. In the end, I ended up waiting for the activation of my e-mail, as the provider wasn't able to connect me before my old e-mail, and thus my old account, was reactivated. That meant around 2,5 weeks extra waiting.

Phew- good thing my inbox (and webmail outbox) is located with my webhotel, meaning it is separate from my ISP completely, so they can't mess that one up.

    Think yourself lucky.

The procedure was afterwards rather hillarious:
    1) I ordered internet connection
    2) I got a call regarding what I meant by "moving the old user accounts etc. to new connection". I explained that I wanted my old e-mail to be moved to under the new contract from the old one (my parents'). The lady in custom service said that she would find out if it's possible, and that it would take around a week to get my connection
    3) After 3 hours of that call, my e-mail was shut down. No information passed to me that such thing would be necessary or that so on.
    4) I was told that my e-mail should be back and working when my connection is established.
    5) After 1,5 week of that call, I call the ISP to question why neither my connection is yet to come nor my e-mail works. At this point I'm told that my connection is waiting for my e-mail from quarantee, which is mandatory and cannot be passed. I'm informed it should take couple of days. Again, something I was told only afterwards, when it was already too late.
    6) After 2 weeks from the shutting of my e-mail, I get information via cell phone messaging system that my e-mail account has re-established. Though it didn't work still. I call to custom service, and they say that it has been connected, but it may take couple of days before the database has fully handled the moving.
    3) After 2,5 weeks, the e-mail finally works, as well as my internet connection (the same account username, so either both works or neither)

What I did last time I changed ISP:
    1) Ordered the new line
    2) Got the new line after a couple of weeks
    3) Discontinued the old line.

3 easy steps and no downtime of anything

Glad I did not run into problems like you had
