Each to his or her own, but it's been my experience that beyond a certain point the sheer number of levels, skills, spells and items becomes ridiculous. The game stops being an RPG, and turns into a "whose nuclear bomb is bigger?" I would neither purchase nor play a BG game in which you were a full god going up against another full god. There's no strategy there, just a bunch of special effects.

I agree with Fable on this one.
Playing a Bhaal spawn - or even the new Lord of Murder would be a seriously destructive aspect of a possible BG3.
The "Saga" of the Bhaalspawn ended in BG2:ToB, and I think it would be best left there.

As Fable says - to play as a God vs. another God would requier so high level characters and abilities that ... well - Fable said it

And playing as somebody else with Bhaals blood in them would be rather dull... seeing as we kinda knows what happens with (all of??) the spawn.
We know what happens with the most powerful Bhaal-spawn (ourselves in BG2:ToB), so there is little meat to pick on spinning that story.

I would certainly hope not, the Bhaalspawn story is over. And to put out another game using the same premise would be completely lacking in originality and a real letdown to all the people who really want this game. And I don't think being a god fighting another god would be all that fun. What would you do between your mini clashes of the titans? Walk around villages smiting people because you're a lord of murder?

Although I'd like to keep the Bhaal storyline where it is (finished) the idea of playing as a God would not necessarily suck. The game wouldn't have to take place in Faerun, it could be in the realm(s) of the Gods. Who knows what's out there? What the rules of survival are? I figure there would be no longswords and boots of speed and hobgoblins.

Only way I can really comprehend them keeping it all Baal spawn is if they have another one of those ages when all the gods return back as men, or maybe your cursed some how by some big baddie for doing too much raw **** to the peoples, so lose your god powers, although, we would be like levl 35's by the end and ****, god, I just dunno how its possible, ever idea just doesn't work.

Maybe MeOw idea is not stupid.Lets say a big baddy curse the Bhaalspawn(you), so you lose all your powers. This baddy should be some kind of a arch-devil.What about Asmodeus taking the Bhaalspawn powers to enslave Faerun.Your character wouldn't be a crazy 35th character. What about, 15 at the beggining.

These are only suggestions!

Personally I don't think it's as much fun starting as a higher level character. BGII was an acceptable level due to storyline and continuity. There's no reason whatsoever that I can think of for BGIII to start at anything aside from level 1.

And low leveling is a lot of fun, to boot.

It gives you a chance to watch your character grow. Always a good thing.

It's the one area--low level development--that I think BG1 had in all respects over BG2.

I don't really mind level progressions (though as I remember BG I was so difficult at the beginning, I almost gave up...), b/c as I experienced enemies usually matched my powers (well, not when I was level 30, that's true). Anyway, if I'm not a goddess, that makes the game more challenge, if I am, that makes it more fun

What I really worry about is the storyline. I have never ever seen another game that had such a fantastic story behind as BG II. It is unbeatable. NWN's story was such a disappointment for me!

So this is what I'm really looking forward to: a new game with a similarly detailed background story, and with similarly interactive and funny characters. I wouldn't mind if the scenes took place in the same land, too! I mean it would be nice to enter Athkatla again, visit the De'Arnise hold, and so on I have already given up my hopes, though... BG II was such a wonderful, professional work that I can't imagine anyone doing better.

If you were particularly fascinated by the BG2 story line, Brynn, you might want to rummage around a bit on the Planescape:Torment forum - another game that used the Infinity game engine.

Beat me to it (and probably several others of us that were thinking the same thing).
