So i picked up Valygar to my party recently but he's just lvl9. Everyone else in my party is at least 12(even Jan is 11/12). I thought NPC supposed to level up to my prota lvl or am i doing something wrong? I don't know if it is worthy to take Valygar with me because he has only 400.000 xp and my other npcs 1.000.000+(Thants a huge difference). Will he catch up with the others or i should just leave him?
I think this may be want you want: the Gibberlings Three's Baldur's Gate II Tweak Pack. Here's one of its functions:
ToB-Style NPCs
This component will alter all joinable NPCs to join in the same fashion as Throne of Bhaal, where NPCs immediately level-up upon joining, with a caveat: all creature files are moved down to their lowest experience version, so if you pick up an NPC early enough they will not level upon joining. However, later in the game they will, allowing you to select weapon proficiencies, thieving points, and other goodies from the level-up process.

Thanks but i did not help me. The only change was when i picked up Valygar he immediately lvld up but only from 8 to 9. So the result is the same. I tried the lvl 1 npc from your link but same rsult. Maybe he should be lvl 9? Weird.
Well, the difference will stay 600 000 XP. I guess that's about 2 levels less. (I don't know by heart, blame the oh-so logical AD&D logic. )
Near the end of the game, it's negligeble, I'd say.
