Post Ranger/Cleric or Fighter/Mage?

I have been wondering wherether a Ranger/Cleric lives up to a Fighter/Mage's high standards (Dual Class). If anyone has any opinions please post your views here.

Well the ranger/cleric is very good and even better if you play multi imo but so is the fighter/mage. Try the multiclassed gnome fighter/illusionist, great class imo.
These two classes go well together.
Pefect party:
Elven Sorceror
Gnome Fighter/Illusionist
Half-elven Ranger/cleric
Halfling fighter/thief

Solo or party ?
dual or multi ?
Soloing a Ranger/Cleric is quite different and I think a bit more difficult, because its harder to tear down mage defenses.
On the other hand the cleric can cast something like 8 bladebarriers, so if you get surounded then the blades really do nice extra damage. (enemy saves become a problem later)
Concerning dual/multi also think about your safes !
A gnome gets -5 to all safes, that really helps.

.. also it depends on one's style and company Clerics have got more supporting and protecting spells, Chaotic Command is good example - hardly a thing one can live without. Wizards (mages and sorcerers) get more offensive ones. In addition clerics are getting more prof. points - it might be essential if you're going to use him also as fighter. The best fighter/cleric, IMHO, is ranger/cleric due to those nice druid spells he have on top of priest's usual assortment.
