Possible bug, or maybe not

I've just recently got TOB. I was in the Underdark and had equipped the drow full plate+5 on Minsc, who normally wears red dragon scale and ring of protection +2. Then i installed ToB. I finished the Underdark and went to the surface. When i got there, my drow equipment disintegrated.

Then i tried equipping my old equipment. But i couldn't equip the red dragon scale armor and ring of protection. The red dragon scale was considered magical. I always thought that it wasn't and that was what made it so good.

Does ToB change red dragon scale to make it magical, or is this just a bug?

Yes in ToB the red dragonscale is considered magical.
I believe there is a cheat about that though.

Its strange why bioware changed that aspect of the game from the PnP version, the whole magic armour and items thing.

How does it work in PnP?

@ Astafas;

IIRC, rings of protection, cloaks etc. could be used with magic armour. The ease of use mod changes BG2 so you can do that now...if you want. Might not be everyone's cup of tea as it means AC improves loads...but with all the new improved stuff that's flying around, I need all the help I can get.

So this dowload changes all armour and not just red dragon scale?

Sorry, but i don't want to change it that much, even if it was like that in PnP

@Fly Boy - if you just want to change the Red Dragon Scales, extract this file into your override directory:
