Petrification bug?

I was in the room where you find the white dragon scales (in the maze level of the Watcher's Keep), when my 26 level Viconia somehow got petrified while fighting the Demon Wraith. When I cured her with the ring of earth control and had her rejoin my party I got a message to the effect of, "You have reached a high level of experience and your god has granted you a holy symbol." This means I now have 2 holy symbols! Strange, but nice.

Has any one had a similar experience?
