No way to get Yoshimo?

Me and my multiplayer partner for BG we're discussing the game and he came up with an interesting theory on how it might be possible to keep Yoshimo in ToB (seeing how there actually is an option to port him in)

His idea was to leave him in Athkatla before leaving for Brynlaw and basically forgetting about him till the end of SoA when you dispose of Irenicus. I'm not well versed in D&D rules but wouldn't that break his geas?

Has anyone tried this? Or am I just grasping straws here hehe.

From the GameFAQs FAQ:

SPOILER

Quote:
If you really want to keep Yoshi, have him in your party, then before you enter the Spellhold, go inside an inn (or any building), put him near the doorway and drop him from the party (and tell him to wait for you). Once you finished the whole Spellhold drama, head back to where you drop Yoshi off, as soon as you walk into the inn (or whatever building he is in), PAUSE the game and command your character to talk to him. When you talk to him, talk him back into the party. When the conversation ends and Yoshi is in your party, he will die from the geas. Just take him to a temple or resurrect him and he is as good as new.
I'm not however sure if this continues through to ToB. Worth a try though, no?

@Buck/fable: If you want me to remove the link, I can do that. I did look to see if this spoiler was on GB anywhere, but it wasn't. Full credit to Dan Simpson for his brill walkthrough, but I won't shed too many tears if you don't want the link there.

If you start a new game of Throne of Bhaal, you can create Yoshimo from the CLUAConsole and let him into your party. You'll have to beef him up and equip him to make him useful, of course.

I haven't tried doing this when going from an old game of SoA into a new game of ToB. If there's a problem with creating Yoshimo from the console in that case, then you can probably solve the problem by eliminating the global variables associated with Spellhold and Yoshimo's geas.

I didn't bring him to the asylum with me. When I saw him again at the Copper Coronet after I got back he turned hostile, so if you can leave him you'll probably have to find a way to avoid him till the end.

When you meet him again after spellhold he dies instantly. You're allowed him in ToB anyway. Most viable solution here is from Kameleon.

I prefer to go with the story and purify his heart.... For his betrayal was not his choice to make.

How can you have him in ToB? Whenever I've tried to summon him using the fate spirits, they say he's dead. And whenever I used the talking method as described by Kameleon, he dissappears inbetween the final battle with Irenicus and the start of ToB.

^_^ Actually I never tried, I just presumed as he was on the list you could bring him back. Some kind of fate spirit magic deal.

Why would you want him anyway though? He was a weak character and a traitor to boot. *grin*

Bah! I thought you had some sneaky new method or something. But now I see that all you had was hot air and conjecture. You don't work in local government do you?

Thing is Yoshimo doesn't actually die until you enter the Copper Coronet, upon returning from the Underdark.

This is due to his geas from Irenicus.

SO, if you don't ever even enter the CC after leaving the Underdark, finish SoA (hence killing Irenicus) his geas ought to be gone, right?

See what I'm getting at?

Me and my friend are playing through again at the moment and going to try it out, we're still finishing off all the sidequests in Athkatla and haven't left for Brynlaw yet. We'll see how this goes.

@ Sebanis;

Interesting. Please let us know if this works. I'd imagine he'll just die anyway but still you never know...

Sorry to disappoint you Sebanis, but you will not be able to use the Fate Spirit to summon Yoshimo - even if he didn't die in SoA; because the dialogue is written that way.

I've done some editing that should allow you keep Yoshimo through the whole game - this includes through Spellhold. If anyone wants to test it for me - don't have time right now - then simply unzip the file and put it in the Override folder - this is best done before you enter Spellhold itself.

@Sabre

That's great Sabre! You'll be everybody's hero if it works. Even more hero, I mean. Would love to test it myself had I but the time. Maybe during my vacation if non has come to it before that.

So he won't turn on you in Spellhold? He won't disappear between SoA and ToB? And the game won't crash in the end because he has no ending storyline?
