| | | Mazzy vs. Sarevok vs. Keldorn Please rank these characters in power order, assuming optimal equipment.
TIA

| | | Mazzy can be awsome with the Bow of Gensen & GW. So if you want a great archer, use mazzy.
For toe-to-toe fightning, Sarevok is just the best. A nice high-level Warrior, and you can dual-class him if you need it.
Keldorn is the most useful in a party : A nice tank and a great dispeller. Only one things itch me : He have 9 Dex!!! So you should use the Gauntlets of Dexterity with him. |

| | | I'd say Keldorn. Equipped with gauntlets of dex and carso, he is insane.. Definately better than Mazzy, thats for sure.

| | | There really isn't a "single best" in that group. Their power is relative, and depends on the rest of your party.

| | | MY 2 gp worth.. What fable said.
Sarevok is probably the easiest to use, but MODs can really err.. well... modify things - especially factors like the tweaking of GM availaility, or some of the changes in weapon availability. Heck, some let all melee use Carsomy

| | | With BG2 Refienements, Keldorn become the best without any competition from Mazzy or Sarevok (Because they are pure Fighters). |

| | | Mazzy is weak for face to face.
Keldorn has too low dex.
Savvy is nice...
But It is hard to say. In my parties I prefer Savvy for storyline, strength, using long sword and crossbow. Keldorn and Mazzy are too booooring goodies. |

| | | It kinda depends. Generally Sarevok and Keldorn are thought to be very strong, while Mazzy isn't used as much.
On easy battles, Sarevok is the most useful, as he will kill everyone with Ravager halberd. However, he's kinda one dimensional, and you can always just give Ravager to someone else. I don't think Deathbringer Assault is all that useful. With Improved Haste + Critical Strike / Greater Whirlwind Attack anything without Protection From Magic Weapons up is dead anyway. Now Ravager does penetrate Stoneskins which is useful, however, Sarevok does not have a monopoly on Ravager, and Deathbringer Assault doesn't go through Stoneskin.
For major battles I think Keldorn with his instant 2x level cast Dispel Magic, and True Sights is the most useful. No one else has instant True Sights or instant cast Dispel Magics (and as DM is area spell it can hit invisible enemies). Plus since it goes off with an effective level power of twice Keldorn's actual level it will dispel anyone who doesn't have Spell Immunity: Abjuration up (and maybe Spell Shield, not sure, but Spell Shield only blocks a single such spell anyway before it fades).
Mazzy could probably be useful as a tank, but since she starts off with a ton of shortbow proficiencies you might as well put some bow or other in her hands. There are some neat combos, for example if you use Gesen Bow with the Quiver of Plenty you end up with unlimited +2 arrows which get the Gesen electricity bonus. Also, sometimes having a missile attack can be useful - for example, your mage with Contingency: On Hit: Pro. from Magic Weapons, SI: Abj and a continuous stream of Stoneskins and PfMWs tanks and everyone else shoots stuff at enemies behind their human shield. And sometimes vs fleeing enemies, or Sendai teleporting around the place missile weapons constantly hit, whereas a fighter even with Boots of Speed often has difficulty landing blows. Also if a character is hit he does the "take hit" animation and can have problems getting attacks off, so if he is meleeing someone with alot of attacks he may not be able to get all his attacks off, while Mazzy doesn't have to worry about that. OTOH, you do need someone or other to tank, and missile weapons don't do as much damage in ToB as melee. |

| | | Keldorn's ability to melee well and take out mage protections made him essential to my strategies. In fact, he always got the Helm of Vhailor, since even a 60% replica's Dispel Magics worked pretty well, and having 2 characters doing True Sight half-a-round apart was great for invisible targeting. Plus in the later game, the replica could still Major Whirlwind or Strike Attack pretty effectively. |

| | | sarevok is the best of them with auto grand mastery of the 2-hander sword
he is by far the best. Mazzy would be a better thief with 18 dex. and to make her a true fighter must be equiped with ether a girdle of ogre, hill giant or fire giant to make her any use. keldorn last, the paladin class only allows a second mastery of a weapon type and you should probably spaz him out with the legendary weapon carsomyr the holy defender or gram the sword of grief +5 |

| | | Sarevok if dualclassed otherwise Keldorn, because he can use the avenger, summon deva, dispel magic, has imunities and all other fighter abilities, his low dex dosent matter because the gauntlets take care of that, it dose sacrifice thee slot which Sarevok can use the gauntlets of extraordinary specialisation however, but if you dual Sarevok to a thief he is compleatly unstopable, he can use the carsomir, spell scrolls and anything you want him to in due experiance.
Mazzy i dont have much experiace with, problem with her as i see it is that ranged weapons are incredibly weak compared to melle ones, and she starts out with a ton of shortbow/sword proficiencies,i meen you dont see +6 bows or arrows around, and there are plenty of +6 two handers including the upgraded carsomir., otherwise she would be great to use because of her abilities. |

Sarevok WOULD be my best, if he didn't come in at a lower exp than the rest of my party members.
in any particular situation, Mazzy holds the edge over keldorn, but he gets the vote on mage battles due to his immense class bonuses.
now if only he werent such an ass... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
