| | | Whoot. And then there was the Mac version.
Got it, love it. However, it was a pain in the butt to load. I had upgraded from OS9 to OSX and had to reload BGII prior to installing ToB. Note to the wise - you need to do a FULL install off each SoA CD (put each in separately, do full install). It took a looong while for me to figure out how to do it.
..and then of course I had deleted SoA saved games and had to start ToB without all my extraneous goodies (I really miss the KAXX ring, nice armour etc). Still a small price to pay to finally get to go through ToB.

| | | its cool Yeah its been out for a while - since before xmas 2003 actually.
It was a soft release. I never heard anything about it, and then saw an add for it at the macplay site.
I picked it up from a local online store in just before new years.
Anyway its a great port. It improves some of the performance issues SOA had in OSX, however i still find BG2 runs better in my OS9.2 partition than on my OS10.3.2 partition.
(for non mac users think xp vs 2000). |

| | | so this seems to be the only mac thread
mac users unite!
ah, so anyways...
have any other mac users had issues with ToB quitting on you?
ive got the clean and full install of SoA, upgraded to 1.1.1 and dropped in the bonus merchants
i can play for a little while, then after 10 min or so... blue screen!
sometimes ive had to force quit to get out
other times it unexpectantly quits and notifies me
and we only had to wait a year or so to get this
ugh
well any suggestions are grately appreciated

| | | elfelven no, TOB was pretty stable for me in jaguar, if a little slow.
BG1 with TOSC installed though is virtually unplayable in osX for me. Im using my os9 partition and it runs well on that. |

| | | i actually reinstalled via os9 through the full install option (dont have that in osx, have to do it manually) and so far so good, and updated to 2.1.2
i agree that bg/totsc is VERY slow in classic mode, i can only play that smoothly in my os9 partition
has anyone tried using bg1tutu on a mac?
its supposed to convert bg1 to be playable in osx with the bg2:soa engine
i have tried several times, installing, uninstalling, wiping it all out and clean installing, but no luck
i would like to play one character through all three games in osx, but oh well...

| | Good to see some other mac users out there.
Never had it quit on me, but I've had the same experience of OS9.2 vs X, so I run it on 9.2. Fortunately I remembered to make a copy of me saved games!
The only problem I've had is that the CD seems to corrupt the Desktop folder sometimes, so that I get an inescapable fast-twirling watch cursor and have to reboot with Extensions off and launch OSX just to eject the damn disk.
Ah, it's great to be back not knowing what the hell is going on. Just gave Yaga Shura a proper doing. Woohoo! |
