Kuroisan (Wu Jen Challenge)

He is *impossible*!!!

I tried a *lot* of times to beat him... and I couldn't beat him without cheating... so I used the Ctr+J (teleport) and Ctr+R (heal) cheat keys...

I Ctr+Qed Kuroisan and found him to be an exact replica (well, almost) to a human-made Kensai dualled to Mage...

Any strategies for a level 10 to 12 party to beat Kuroisan?

Here's my party BTW:
Keldorn
Minsc
Anomen
My PC (Fighter/Thief)
Tashia (Sorceror)

Protection from acid scrolls from the temples - they stack, so his splashbacks heal you...he has an undroppable cloak of mirroring so don't cast spells. I think he chases one character only...haste this character and keep out of his way till his prot from magic weapons runs out. Its been a while since I faced him, so sorry I can't be more help.

hmm... I tried a second time and I did it, using Ctr J only. Sigh, oh well, otherwise he'd be impossible.

Now I've got 2 katanas... Celestial Fury and Sanshuudoku.. which do you think should be in the main hand?

@ Gloop: he's not impossible, just stay clear of him untill his protections run out..presumably you managed the imroved guarded compund to get CF? Now thats hard...ah well.

I'd keep cf in your main hand as the stun ability of that is very powerful - it even works on golems (and inquisitors )

yeah.. and i think it is possible to beat him... now that u've mentioned his prots. dispel with keldorn, then oil of speed anomen and have him use flail of ages and *hope* it hits and slows him... then he shld be easy (except for the tons of acid damage...)
will this work?

IIRC, He's immune to dispel magic... but his spell protections do run out. I hid the rest of my party with invisibility, and had one character (Sola I think) attack. He had 3 protection from acid scrolls cast on him and the cloak of mirroring...the acid revenge acts like a fireshield but with unlimited range, so no other characters attacked him, they remained hidden - infact I turned AI off.

He's not "immune" to dispel by himself, he has Spell Immunity: Abjuration and other stuff active, a Khelben Whip may help.

Try luring him in the guarded compound........then summon some creatures and hit him with range attacks (also cast protection from accid of course)..........then let him chase 1 NPC. He only attack that one........so let ure ranged attackers slay him and let ure summons pound in on him. If that does 2 few dammage....attack him when hes attacking one of your summons. FoA and CF will get through couple of times

oh i c... that time when i fought him after ctr J-ing to a faraway place... his spell immunity ran out. I think thats the key... if he'll allow some time for me to make preps i think i should be able to make it...

err by the way are u sure he only chases one person? i tried to exploit that by clogging up a bottleneck and hiding the target away but he simply attacked my other party members clogging up the bottleneck.

hmm.. so according to ur advice and my discretion... i think this should work.

Haste
RUN (until spell immunity's gone)
dispel
beat down quickly after re-hasting, then once he is killed, dispel before acid kills us. of course it all depends whether the FoA slows him ornot... +4 ac penalty and slowed rate of attack is nice

The Acid Katana is a total cheese katana...
I killed improved firkraag with only fire prots, stoneskin scroll, prot from magic wpns scroll, and the katana... with my main character.

spelled up upstairs and sent a single character (all members immune to fire) to speak to him and attack him, using the (potion/scroll bug) scroll of magic wpn prot and attacking... firkraag fell quickly to the tons of acid damage from the Sanchuudoku...

No offence..........but I really think the improved Firkraag isnt that though.

I needed one reload (he dispelled everything from me and then let me run around with fear, so he could chew on me like an old bone....).

After that i took some actions against it, and then it was my turn to chew on him .

And Gloop, ure right indeed, its really one heck of a magic item. Let a kensai dual wield CF and this acid katana, and u will c what a great class Kensai is .

But as I said, it can be taken down with a Pierce Magic or something, anything but dispel, THEN, he's no more immune to dispel.......

Ok, he has even Spell Turning and other stuff, so the first Pierce Magic would remove one of those instead.......
