| |  Is the ToB novel any good?
I ask this, since they changed writers for the final book (having read the sample chapter of BG and BG II SoA I can only thank God for this mercy), using someone from Bioware. I wonder if the books have hit the status of being enjoyable, in a good way.

I tried reading it but never got very far. It seems that most fantasy novels are terrible anymore. After reading the Lord of the Rings series everything else isn't all that great.

LoR? Eeew. I hate the series. It was just... not appealing to me.
There are lot of good DragonLance books out. especially with the new War of Souls Trilogy.

Uhh...I've tried a couple of the new Dragonlance books and they are just crap. In my opinion, of course. The first 2 trilogies were nice but after them...bs.

They did?!? That's great - because I've never red a book that would top the original 'Baldur's Gate' in dullness & stupidity. Haven't stumbled across ToB though so I wouldn't know => can't answear the question =(. Probably crap though ... which is amazing, since the game is so much fun & enjoyabe.

| How can you say that to the greatest fantasy trilogy ever written? Every fantasy books that I have read paled in comparison with Lord of the Rings. The only exception that I can think of is Stephen R. Donaldson's "Chronicle of Thomas Covenant The Unbeliever".

Hah! This was sooo unavoidable... 
I especially liked a couple of scenes from LotR; the fight at Weathertop, fleeing from the Balrog, Eowyn & the Witch King and Sam rescuing Frodo from the orc tower. Most of the rest was pretty good as well, but I was rather annoyed by the endless narrations about travel... I'm glad that aspect hasn't been copied too extensively by other writers. |

Yes but at least you felt they were traveling, rather than as is often the case, people leave a town at the end of a chapter and reach a new one at the beginning of the next one. Wow, what a sense of time and scale . Uh, except in Book 4, wow, was that overkill
