Irenicus spawn

Sometimes Irenicus spawns in the first challenge is there anyone who knows why or why not he would spawn? I've tried going through that part with different parties and he rarely appears and it seems to be random.

I believe that the monsters that appear vary according to alignent. I've never seen Irenicus appear, but then again, I've only done that once.

I believe he spawn when u have a neutral alignment. I tried playing a neutral soc and the last 3 enemy to spawn in the first challenge was irenicus bohdi and Sarevok

IMHO, Irenicus, Bodhi and Sarevok spawned when the game is set to Insane difficulty.
I tried ToB at easier levels and the 3 of them didn't appear.

I'm playing on Core rules, and I had Irenicus and Bodhi show up in the first test.
The only thing I can think of that might have made them appear is that my party was at a fairly high level.

The most recent response makes the most logical sense. The other one that I was thinking of is wheather or not your party went through Shadow's of Amn or started in ToB. That would be the most annoying possibilty because it would be nearly impossible to test. I don't think I ever have had Bohdi show up and when Irenicus showed up my party kind of ate him and I wasn't really paying a whole lot of attention.
