At the moment, I'm still doing the Shadows of Amn one, but I intend to continue into ToB. I just exited the Underdark with Imoen, but I'm considering swapping her with Jan. She's a dual mage/thief of 13/7, he's a multi mage thief 11/12. Do you need a proper thief in ToB, or will Imoen suffice? I don't really need her for pickpocketing, more for detecting, disarming and unlocking.

And how about their banter in ToB? I suppose Jan's probably got a few lines, but does Imoen as well?
