Unhappy I am starting to dislike the French....

HELP.....

I went to France a year ago and bought ToB over there. I finished SoA yesterday and as one can imagine was filled withh joy. I immediately grabbed ToB and installed it. I should have known it would have been too good to be true, but because it said ´European´version on the back, I hoped it would be in English, so it would save them a lot of trouble.
But it wasn´t, and now I am stuck with SoA and ToB in French....My french is ok, but it still doesn´t have the charm english has.
Is there any way that you know of that I can change it back to english, or do I have to buy the english version?....Thanks a lot,

Sjon

Hi TheSjon!

My 2 cents: sell the French version at eBay and get the English version.

That was what my friend did when he bought the European version by mistake when he was in Paris.

Question: Why did you buy ToB a year ago if you've only just started playing it now?

Question 2: Why did you buy it in France at all?

Answer 1 (and 2): Last year I went on an exchange to France for 6 months. I had started playing Baldur´s Gate just a few weeks before that, so I hated not being able to play it there, since I did not have a computer there.
Saw ToB, got overexcited and bought it. Back home, resumed playing, but got stuck just before reaching Sarevok. Got annoyed and vowed not to play it again. But then I saw SoA later on, and couldn´t help myself, cause I liked the idea of playing one character throughout both games. Took me a long time, especially since a bug came along in Baldur´s Gate, which made me restart once again.
Now I have finally finished both, and I get a French ToB version....

In the Baldur´s Gate map, there is a text file which says ´language´. Is there no way I can change it in there, or is that a very silly question? Thanks,

Sjon

Um...

It may be possible to get it at least partially fixed - there are several things out there that modify / replace the "Dialog.tlk" file, which would allow you to get an english version of the dialog, I think...

Specificly, try the baldurdash "fixes" compilation thingy. I'd give you a link...

But I don't have one, sorry.

Indeed, just replace the dialog.tlk file with the one you find
here: "English-Language Game Text Update v1.2"
It's even better than the original!
Don't forget the following:

Probably the French version has also a dialogF.tlk file, this has to be REMOVED if you use the english version
Install this file after ToB but BEFORE Weidu mods
You'll still have French sounds, of course. As I know well, my italian version updated to english still suffers from that terrible dubbing (except for the incredible Sarevok's soundset and one of the female player voices )...
