kellen, go to the walls at saradush near where eduardo is defendin the walls with his spells. have one char equipp the gesen bow. most effective for this tactic. if its saravok or even any warrior type, they will start shooting arrows out of sight. keep him or her there until they get tired while the rest run around town doing quests. works out to around 8000 per giant, once every 90 seconds or so, around a million per real hours.

Another good points is ofcourse the elemental portals in the Underdark SoA(Air or Fire and having a bad ass fighter equipped with Staff or air or Fire based right next to it). You could be amazed by the amount of exp a Wizardslayer/Thief with grandmastery in staffs could build up there.

Another cheesy way is ofcourse capping(or nearly capping) by exploring for yourself and the bring in the party effectivly giving you a really bad ass party.

LOL those elemental spawn i loved them, they were a little bit of challenge with my bard, vicy, edwin, and jan, i just used magic to buff up with stone skin and few others then just had my bard wail on the elementals and vicy healing him up, helping out there and there, and i got an nice lump of xp there

Ahh, the elemental portals!!!

You don't even need an staff of air/etc, since all elementals appear on the same point, so all you have to do is put all your party around that spot and as soon as teh elemental appears, begin hammering with everyone!!! he'll die really fast!!!

I actually thought that they would eventually end, to conclude some sort of quest in the first time i reached the portals, but about 15 mins of elementalcide, just with teh AI working i got bored and decided to leave (that cheese was waaaaaay to easy, with the derro at least you eventually get some damage...)

However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...

I was in the Underdark and I freed the imprisoned mage who took me around to the elemental portals, but after I killed him (backstab before he could get off one spell) i go around to the portals and no elementals spawn!!! So does doing the quest with the mage shut off the portals? If so then I recommend killing the spawning elementals first (i think only 15 show up), THEN doing the quest with the mage...

Heh ahh that mage, lol i simply had edwin and jan do a sequencer, one that has 3 silot, i forget the name i think its spell trigger, and the that the dialong ended i had jan, and edwin fire let's see 30 missiles each doing 4 damage on average that termated the mage before he even went hostile.

i used that tatic on the dude, u know that mad dude in the assiyium the one u talk to and offer soem cash to relase the intmate, well i just had my bard do a small sequer, then edwin and jan both doing a major and the second he ended the dialong and the fact he only got around 59 health i termated him so fast i use that tatics for most mage that start peaceful then go hostile or i use that on hostile mages like the sewer one i just had some one go in invisiable and while he was casting true sight i termated him with a spell sequired, all i can say is magic missiles + spell sequies rock!

Don't forget about Skull Trap! Spell Sequencer with three of those ends a lot of fights before they even start. I have quite the list of insta-kills made with this baby.

I like to test melee combat scripts in the Derro tunnel. I noticed that if you equip a solo fighter with all the AC-reducing gear and use Blackrazor/Reflection Shield, you gain back HP faster than you lose it. Many of the crossbow Derro just kill themselves, and Blackrazor periodically drains HP and gives you Improved Haste. In your script, attack only the Derro with the halberds.

And if you need an endless river of money, out their gear in your bag and sell it. It's tedious, but it will get you all the money you could ever want.

Endless river of money? Gather round all, and I'll tell you how that's done.

This is a cute little quirk discovered quite by accident. While in the Sahuagin city, accept the King's job of whacking the Prince. Oh dang. Spoilers. Duh.

Anyways, after doing all of that stuff but before returning to the King, go see the fish priestess who sells stuff. She will buy let's say, your Staff of the Magi, for 32K(I think), and sell it back to you for 24K. So you make 8K on the deal. A bunch of clicks later, and you too will have dough coming out of your ears. The best part is that you get to use your staff when you start making fish sticks like you worked for Gordon's.
Of course, these prices are representative of a protag with a 20 rep who is on good terms with the fish-folk. Also, this only seems to work after dealing with the prince, and before speaking to the king. Well, it's been awhile since I did it last, and I didn't take notes, and the eighties were too kind to me. So the actual order might be incorrect.

I have done this with more than one party. It works. Yes, it's cheeseball at it's greatest, but whatever. Like making money in the game was difficult anyways. Big Deal.

The Sahuagin reselling trick is apparently the result of a wrongly placed decimal point.

Or so says Baldurdash...

i got two things to say..
A) quit BSing about the elemental spawns.. they last for maybe 2 mins of killing each, and then stop...
B) The best way to make cash (i made about 1 mil in maybe 10 mins) is to save up... buy the most expensive stuff from dedra (the special ed. vendor in adventures mart), goto the theives guild in the docks (mavars guild i mean) and drink a few potions of master theiver or whatever... sell him all the nice stuff you purshaced, steal it back, sell again, and continue... you can make upwards of 50,000 each time... its the BEST cash flow ever.

I also don't know why people keep saying there are 50 or 60 or endless number elemental coming out of those gates. There are about 15 for each gate, if even that many.

As to how to reach the exp cap, I believe the game definitely provides enough to reach the 8 mil cap by the end of ToB, although just barely. I did some tests and posted my results in another thread, so I'll just cut and paste them over to this one.

Quote:

[SPOILERS AHEAD]
I JUST finished ToB for the first time, YAY, and I think I can shed some good light on the exp thinger. I revived Sarevok and had him with me throughout my entire ToB experience, so he is the best yardstick I have for ToB experience total.

Now he started at the SoA cap 2,950,000. At the end, I mean the VERY VERY end, literally before I shut the final soul portal at the Throne of Bhaal. His exp was 4,500,000. Or 4,43X,XXX to be more accurate.

This is killing EVERYTHING that was meant to be killed. Even that big fight at center of Amkethran with the monks and mercs right before you enter Balthazar's mansion. There must've been at least 100 of those guys. The fire giant exp exploit at Saradush was not used even once.

The only things I did not do were Watcher's Keep, that was already done back in SoA, and the 1 mil reward using the Deck of Many Things. Sarevok also do not recieve the exp award for crossing from SoA to ToB.

All in all, I think it will be really really really hard to accomplish 8 mil by the end of ToB if you did not install ToB to remove the cap before completing SoA. If you went through SoA with ToB installed however, it does seem very likely that you can reach 8 mil.
Then later I narrowed down the amount of exp received in Watcher's Keep to a more precise number.

Quote:

I just went through Watcher's Keep again and did a tally of exp points before and after.
Haer'Dalis was the measuring stick this time:

Before talking to the Knights of Vigil at Watcher's Keep for the very first time - 3,050,000, give or take a few thousand.

After defeating The Imprisoned One with the betrayal to the Knights of Vigil and all those other quest exp, Haer'Dalis ended up with 4,325,000. So there's about 1.3 mil of exp in Watcher's Keep for each member of a 6-man party.

So okay...at the end of SoA you have 3 mil., add the 1 mil bonus for upgrade to ToB.

Another mil from the Deck of Many things.

About 1.5 mil for the rest of the ToB quests and dungeons.

Add the 1.3 from Watcher's Keep, I'm looking at about 7.5~7.8 mil at the end. That's WITHOUT upgrading to TOB before finishing SoA. Hope this helps.
I believe there is about 3.5 to 4 mil in SoA alone with the cap removed by ToB. Which should definitely cover the 200k to 500k shortcoming of the above numbers.

Speaking of Exp exploits - I don't know if everyone knows about the infinite exp trick that I was one of the pioneers on, the Underdark mind flayer dungeon exp exploit. (kudos to the main pioneer mini-me) I have a link here to the thread, it basically involves killing the githyanki prisoners, then fighting (endless if desired) successions of umber hulks until you get bored, turn into the slayer and escape, and then fight a bonus 200K worth of mind flayers before continuing on your merry way.

Jaker: I just did that in my game and it works really well. I was soloing with a monk and boy is he a good mindflayer killer. You don't even have to turn into the slayer to get out.
Now I have to try the derros.
