Help, Mod problem

I should possibly not have installed all those mods that everybody kept on about;-)
When I press "play I get the following error-message
"An assertation failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 628
Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data\Hd0GMosc.bif"

That is it, any ideas of what to do? Is it a common occurance when having installed Mods?

Not common, no. Perhaps you should list the mods you installed.

I uninstalled it all and reinstalled BGII and ToB, I am currently trying to install the Baldurdash patch, which refuses to work without ToSC (that I do not have), despite what it says on the download page...

Are you saying that you can't install Baldurdash's ToB patch? Because that doesn't require ToSC. It should simply require SoA and ToB.
