What bonuses shall I receive when attack hand-to-hand enemies which use ranged weapons (bows, crossbows, slings etc.). I read somewhere that I should receive +4 attack bonus. +4 To Hit or To Damage or both?

In Dungeons and Dragons, attack bonuses generally mean to hit.
I can't look into the engine files and the manual makes no mention of this, but I'm pretty sure all you get is a to hit bonus.

The archers should get a penalty to hit too when shooting close enemies. But they can switch to melee weapons to avoid a penalty, just like your own party members.
The exact penalties should be quite easy to find out, just enable the hit roll display and have your party members fight each other.

Thanks for replies. I already have figured it out. In Baldir’s Gate, when You are attacking archers (enemies with bows), You receive additional +4 to Damage and +4 to Hit.
