Fire elemental transformation

Before installing ToB fire elementals were the easiest way to take down Beholders but since installing the expansion summons are useless againnst these beasts. It occured to me that if transformed to a fire elemental death spell wont effect you and then beholders will be easy again, however I don't seem to get any of the nice immunities that fire elemental have. Anyone know if that is a bug or intentional? For the record, I went down very quickly to beholders as a fire elemental. It seems that this HLA is only for looks... you only look like a fire elemental. Bummer since it seemed like such a good idea. Any thoughts?

Which immunities were you referring to? The only immunities most of the fire elementals in the game have are 100% Fire & Magic Fire resistance and immunity to normal & +1 weapons.
