Angry Final Battle (major spoiler!)

Can someone please tell me how I can kill M. in the final battle? It's impossible!!!

And, is there anywhere I can rest when I'm in the Throne Of Bhaal. I managed to close off one area, but my party was so beat up, my healing spells were used, and I didn't stand a chance the second time M. attacked.

My party consist of:

Paladin (PC)
Sarevok
Minsc
Valygar
Imoen
Jaheira

That's the big catch... you CAN'T rest while you're there. There is a way around this though: use'wish'-spells. You can use them to restore spells and health.
As for M.: concentrate on her instead of her flunkies. My tactic was to summon some help myself (the more powerful the better of course)and let them defend my party against the monsters M. conjured up. Meanwhile my partymembers tried to beat the crap out of M. as hard and especially as fast as possible.
For more hints on this check this site's strategy guide.
Good luck!

You can rest, after you killed here and before you cut the baalessence flow!

Out of curiousity - what level are your characters? Mine were all in the mid 30's, and we didn't really have much trouble.

I had Korgan, Sarevok, and my Kensai whirlwind her, while Viconia kept casting Greater Restoration or Mass Healing as needed.

She wasn't very tough at all - died pretty fast with the trio above beating on her.

The key seems to be as the others have said above - focus on her, ignore the minions. One important fact is that she is not subject to Time Stop, though her minions are.

Oh! I almost forgot - before I went after her I had my mages cast Chain Contingency: Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting x3, it was set to go off upon seeing an enemy and targetted the nearest enemy. Took out her minions in nothing flat. In retrospect I should have only had one mage cast it, then the other for round two. Hrm. Next time!

I wasn't able to rest either -- but then again it wasn't really nescessary. Honestly, the guardians were more trouble than Mel was.

I hope this helps you out RT.

Ok. No you can NEVER rest in the throne. Ever. Hell, if you did, you'd never wake up the next morning, or you did it'd be with a spike through your chest. Melissan's absorbing the Bhaal essance. You take an 8 hour break you've lost, man.

Regardless, I rested.
From a role playing perspective, I agree with what you say. It DOES seem stupid, but it can be done.
