Question Elminster's Ecologies IIIa - Why so many?

In whatcher's keep there is something like 9 Elminster's Ecologies IIIa. Is there a reason for all of these books?

I suspect they just want to be sure you find at least one copy so that you can figure out how to defeat certain monsters with your keyboard intact

Think of it as being like those moments in Mel Brooks' films where a character says some important piece of exposition that the person they're talking to doesn't need to know, but you do--and then that same speaker turns to the theater audience and snarls, "Everybody got that?"

Wink

I suspect it's so people don't get out their best magical weapon and wonder why a blue fiery-looking guy laughs at them...

because on level 4 of watchers keep you will face magic golems and what would you hit him with if you forgot to bring normal weapons along? It's so you know how to defeat some of the monsters in watchers keep and they want to make sure you get that knowledge.

Well...

Presumably, for the same reason that vampires keep stakes lying around in their lairs

No more stupid than a certain villain in KotoR keeping his vital second in command at the same location he occupies, or the fact that so many computers in "evil" bases have graciously provided the means to automatically destroy much of their staff. At least in BG2's case, there was a belief that younger players wouldn't know where to locate stakes (and we've actually had numerous threads asking for this). KotoR has no excuse, unless you include lame villains and creative poverty when it came to designing a computer skill.

Um...cause Elminister is a really self-important character who dumped off his book all over the place to make sure everyone was aware of how intelligent he was....

Okay, this is another thread that's had its question answered, and is turning into a spam zone. It's closed.
