dual/multi question

hello,
im thinking about starting a fighter/mage dual or multiclass perhaps. used to play the game with jaheira alone. to play from beginning of soa to end of tob.
anyways if i am lvl15 fighter-class and dual to mage will i be able to get the abilities of highlvl fighters when my mage gets enough lvls? or just mage-abilities?
also ive heard that multi-class chars get more special abilities. i mean, that get abilities when the have same amount of xp as if a single-class char would have when he started to get abilities, and thus having 3 classes active would give more abilities? and if lets say i have a fighter/mage/thief and my mage-class lvlups and i get one ability... could i choose only mage-abilities or pick any from fighters, mages and thieves?
thanks for all help.

Imoen never obtained the option to get thief high-level abilities in TOB if I remember correctly, so I'd say that in your case, if you dual, you will get only mage abilities, like her.

If you are multi-class instead, you get to choose from the abilities of all of your classes every time one of them levels up.
Definitely better this way

Problem with three-classes: the ability pool is too large, some of them are cut out.
Sabre has a file to download with better choices of abilities.

Anyway, I think duals are cooler!!!

Yeah, when you dual-class, your current class stops advancing, permanently...

If you play a dual-classed character, you won't be able to select High Level Abilities for your character's first class. You can only select High Level Abilities for his second class.

If you play a multi-class character, you will be able to select one High Level Ability each time your character levels up after you reach about 3,000,000 XP points (which is about the same time that a single-class character starts getting High Level Abilities). If you're playing a multi-class Fighter/Mage, I would definitely select Energy Blades, Power Attack/Critical Strike, Deathblow, and Dragon's Breath. If you're playing a Thief combo (Fighter/Mage/Thief or whatever), you should definitely select Use Any Item. Your other selections should be tailored to your particular playing style. Just read the manual and see which ones you think you'd like.
