| | | Draconis advice on how to defeat this swine please
(party = PC Mage[Invoker]; Keldorn; Minsc; Jaheira; Aerie; Imoen)
any way to stop him becoming invisable? I am using Keldorn's True Sight, but the gap between him becoming invisable and me Truely Seeing him is so big that he can avoid my fighters and attack my mages, or run off and heal himself...also does anyone know how magic resistant he is?

| | | Non-chess tactics on killing Draconis like a man Hello there, Frogus.
I had a tough time with him too. Here's how I did it.
SPOILERS AHEAD! (Thanks Buck for reminding me )

Draconis mage-form:
Summon monsters. That should keep his invisible stalkers busy.
Have all the spell prots up (resist fear is V important!!) and whack him with your fighters Keldy and Minsc. If any one else in your party has sling of everad, or any long-distance weapon, use it on him too. He should already have wasted some spells on the summons, Minsc and Keldy, but that shouldn't be a problem for you.
You can have Immie and Jaheria cast, breach and Lower MR on him too. (Look Ma, no traps!)
Draconis dragon-form:
When he changes, prepare your fighters with hardiness and Greater Whirlwinds. The rest should a) summon more monsters b) ruby ray and breach the bugger. If he goes invisible, have Keldy cast True Sight and continue whacking. If he or Minsc has that Dragon Slayer sword, so much the better.
Have potions ready for his Dragon Breath as that is really a pain!
If you can feeble mind him after a few breach and lower MR, you are on your way.
Spells to use are abi dazhims, improved alacs, (time stop, yes he is not immune), spell strikes and chain lightnings. That should bring him down.
In the event that fails, S-E-T T-R-A-P-S (spikes come to mind)
Information below taken from Shadow Keeper:
Draconis' Magical Resistance:
Magic - 65
Magic fire/ Magic cold - 0
pertinent info:
Electricity - 100
Missile - 80
the rest - 0
HP: 290
AC - (-12)
Thaco - (-8)
Stats:
Strength - 25
Dexterity - 19
Constitution - 22
Intelligence - 14
Wisdom - 12 (how does he cast spells with this?)
Charisma - 17
This is THE hardest fight of all and I had to reload at least 20 times.
Hope this helps.
PS I assume you are not talking about the improved version. That is infinitely worse!

| | i can't remember how i defeated his dragon form (was probably just luck and Nalia running round in boots of speed chucking random spells at him ), but i remember how i took hi human form down.
i spoke to him and let him summon his invisible stalkers, then i led him down to around the middle of the arena and went invisible.
He stood around and i walked Minsc to the edge of the fog of war and had him throw some returning axe at him until he went all dragon.

| | yeah...the mage form is no trouble, but a big problem is that as soon as you kill him, your summons vanish (including simulacra... )
thanks for the reply BGF...very complete and useful...
My real trouble is that Keldie gets knocked out by the Brown Dragon breath every so often, and then True Sight stops working...also, True Sight does not stop him becoming invisible, it just reveals him again after he does...but we ALL know that you 'can't target spells at invisible or sanctuaried creatures, so it goes 'Whack Whack Whack, Draconis goes invisable, all my spells fail, True Sight reveals him again'...which is uselss really.
And is he hasted, or just naturally as fast as buggery?

| | Quote: | And is he hasted, or just naturally as fast as buggery? | He is as fast as buggery, I checked it out in SK. Yep, the Bioware developers made it in such a way that real roleplayers have a real challenge on their hands.
When the gloves come off, and push comes to shove, pigs, fly, hell freezes over, cows come home and devil takes the hindmost; cheese takes over
Don't worry, I am a reformed roleplayer after some chastisement from a friend in Italy. In case you are interested:
after my 27th time playing it straight, I did two things: -
1. spike the bugger in the doobies 3 times;
2. (in the footsteps of User) put 3 earthquakes in chain contingencies and set them off while keldy had him in True Sight.
3. Time Stop and do 1 and 2 (please don't look at me like that :l )
No Dragon Breath, no inviso, no stalkers, no fast-as-hell-self-heal, no nothing |

| | thanks again...of course I have no access to spike traps with present party..so we can forget that, but I'll have a go at the Chain Con Earthquakes...never tried that one before .

| | This strategy requires a high-level mage: Have your mage cast Time Stop, Improved Alacrity, Spell Trigger loaded with 3x Lower Resistance, Dragons's Breath x2, Horrid Wilting, Skull Trap x2, and a bunch of Magic Missiles. The trick is getting that Time Stop to go off while Draconis is visible.
Bards: Try Two's patented Time Trap Strategy

| | The way I dealt with Draconis was that I charged him with my 3 tanks (me the Human Fighter, Sarevok and Keldorn) and hacked him to pieces. The dragon was a bit harder, but only until I could get a few breaches cast on him.

| | | I had serious problems with Draconis in his dragon form as well. He had already killed half of my party, only my main char, Anomen, Sarevok surviving, but badly injuried. Then Sarevok saved the day with one of his "lucky punches". I just love Sarevok's deathbringer assault, it did a great job in the final battle, too. |

| | | I got insect plague to stick on him once, he couldn't do anything after that. It was basically just Whack him to death then.

| | | Just summon a couple of the allmighty mordekainen swords. They are immune to both Draconis' and his stalkers' attacks. After that you should use true sight if he keeps going invisible and possibly first remove his magic resistance and then bombard with spells to make the battle shorter. |

| | | Summon planetar is a must here because you get one more true sight caster, a very powerful fighter and three more heal spells at once this way.
I don't remember exactly how I killed him (he just dropped dead at a certain point) but mass use of greater whirlwinds was certainly involved. |

Good way to kill anything is shapechange wth a fighter mage imrpoved haste, turn into ye olde flayer and suck out there brain |

| | | Dunno if it works on draconis since those hard monsters seem to be immune to necromantic spells
basically its dropphing his magic resist to 0
cast harm, activate critical strike and drop his hp to one, a magic missile should kill him then
beware that he has no spell turning, deflection or spell trap up or protection from magic weps, harm will go through stoneskins and any mantle. ,) | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
