Crashing Makes Me Angry.

When leaving an area, the game crashes with a:

'Error: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library'

What does that mean?

I have no computer skills what so ever, I hear people saying things like 'removing drivers' and what not, it's far to confusing and somewhat risky for me.

Is their any way to get around this, or is their a patch or something?

I am trying to play on Windows XP if that makes a difference.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Well, if your computer skills are so poor, I am not sure what help anyone can be, however, you can try first patching the game with the official patch, and if that doesn't work, reinstalling the game from scratch. Judging by the error, it seems like the latter may do the trick, but until you try, you won't know for sure.
Good luck!

Well, if it's a software error, re-installing and patching is the way to go. Or, well, if you really want this game (and you do, right? It's just thaaaat good.) you can format your computer, but that depends. Only do it if it's yours and so fresh BG is the only thing on it/you've grown tired of everything else on it/you have backups, or can make, of everything.

And if *that* doesn't help you then it's a hardware error and I guess your memory is the villain in the drama, but that's just as you say, too risky for someone not understanding the inside of a computer.
