Ascension

Hi all It's been a while since I've played SOA or TOB, and I've been looking at some of the stuff the ascension MOD has to offer, and it looks great I just d/l it and have installed it correctly (I'm assuming) but just to make sure that nothing has gone wrong, I was wondering where the first situation is that I will notice that the MOD has been properly installed? Some dialogue or event that I will definately notice as being different from before?

I think that the MOD is a fantastic idea. I had become a little bored with the game (I have been through SOA about 10 times). I didn't get bored with the game itself, but more of doing the same quests and getting the same dialogue over and over. I still love the whole game concept and all the different things that you can do, but I honestly couldn't say now how many times I've saved Nalia's keep

Probably the first place you'll be able to tell is with the Slayer ability. Check your stats as the Slayer, then when you pass 2 million XP, turn into the Slayer and check your stats again. If you've improved (including HP), then Ascension is working.

***Minor Spoilers***

Ok, thank you Quitch I checked out the slayer and noticed the the HP's are now 200, as well as the armour class being much better than before. I've just made it into the prison in Saradush, haven't noticed any different dialogues just yet, hope to get some soon

Ascension forces a couple of dialogues to happen earlier, but the changes are really at the end of ToB, so don't expect new dialogue until then.

Give the Sword of Chaos to Sarevok - even if you only recruit him temporarily - it will upgrade itself through his powers........

I've heard of that, but haven't found the stats of this upgraded sword anywhere, can some1 post a spoiler or something in this thread so that I know if it's worth carrying that old sword through SoA?

Upgrades to a +4 two handed sword, grants 10% magic resistance and transfers 1d6 (I think) hitpoints to Sarevok on each hit.

Once ithas been upgraded on Evil characters can wield it.

Thanks! But does this mean that Sarevok can't use it once he changes his alignment?

It is possible to change Sarevok's alignment through dialog. Once that happens, he will no longer be able to use evil-only items. Unless the Ascension mod changes this, the dialogs which lead up to the alignment change happen at random - so it is possible to play through the end without getting the chance to change his alignment.

When you first pick up Sarevok, you must say that an oth is not required, or you wont get the alignment change dialog.

Yes, he should be able to use it after his possible alignment change, as the sword is not marked as "only useable by evil characters", but "only useable by chaotic characters".

Cool, so I can have Sarevok in my party for 10 seconds to upgrade the sword, then give the sword to Minsc who is chaotic and likes twohanded swords?

Oh, and btw, should I replace Minsc with Sarevok? Is Sarevok a so much better tank than Minsc, and is it 100% certain that he won't betray me in the end if I do all the dialouges correctly?

The sword is not useable by rangers and requires 18 constitution... so i dont think minsc will be able to use it
