When I try to install TOB, it askes if I want all selected components removed?!!?

It wont allow me to install TOB and if I say yes, it says BGII uninstaller cant be found?!?

I've tried multiple times, I've cleared everything TOB, SOA, BGII, Baldur and Black Isle out of my registry. I've tried Intalling BGII, then TOB and BGII, official patch and then TOB and lots of other methods.
My last option is format c: but REALLY dont want to do that

Anyone here had the same problem?

It sounds like you installed it before, then didn't do a clean uninstallation--and pieces are still left in your registry. If you have a good registry tool (like Norton's Registry Editor), use it to find mentions of Baldur's Gate in your registry, and remove 'em. Then attempt installation again.

Or follow the steps outlined under How To Manually Uninstall BG2 posted here.

@Alvin - you posted this question in SoA too - I answered you there. Use the link I posted, there is an invisible registry key - this is possibly what is causing you problems.

<edit> the hidden registry entries are also listed in Sojourner's link.

Heh I posted this first in the SOA forum and then realised this probably is a TOB problem, so I posted it here too.
Mabey I should have deleted the SOA thread.
Thanks for your responses

Ps: Not fixed yet

Edit: Fixed

@Alvin, next time you realize a thread of yours is under the wrong category, please delete your first post. That will eliminate the entire thread, and prevent double-posting. I've removed your SoA thread. Thanks.

Ok fable I will

When I was lookin through the registry I used keywords like :

SOA, TOB, Baldur, BGII, Black, Bio etc

But there were 2 folders I didn't know of:

{B8C3B479-1716-11D5-968A-0050BA84F5F7} and
{8DAE4336-2B71-11D4-9A6C-006067325E47}

Those look like the registration numbers for games. If they're in BG2 folders, I suspect they were generated by your last installation, and are still causing your computer to believe BG2 is on there, now.

My suggestion? *First, backup your registry. Check the specs for your Windows OS to figure out how to do this. It's vital, if you're going to make any changes.* Then, remove the registry entries (always assuming they were in BG2 folders). Next, reboot and try to reinstall.

If reinstallation doesn't work at that point, I'd use SCANREG or some other tool (again, check your Windows OS before doing this) to restore your last registry snapshot. That way, you'll be no worse off than you were, before.

Note, I'm leery of suggesting anybody fool around with their registry. You might try posting your problem under our Tech category, or I can move this whole thread there, if you'd like.

What I did was :

I uninstalled BGII.
Went through the registry (regedit)
and used keywords like BGII, Baldur, Bio, SOA, TOB, Throne etc.
Deleted everything BG related.
Then I used that help thread Sojourner posted (How to manually uninstall BGII) wich lead to 2 folders:

{B8C3B479-1716-11D5-968A-0050BA84F5F7} a registry folder and {8DAE4336-2B71-11D4-9A6C-006067325E47} wich was found in the hidden directory "InstallShield Installation Information" .

I deleted those and Installed everything again.
Works like a charm now

I have come across 1 bug though. I'm soloing and was hurrying through Jon's dungeon, so I didn't do the *genie in the bottle* quest. Now when I was getting me the Celistial Fury from the Guared Compund in the Temple District, I had killed most and went to the Adventure Mart to sell the goodies. When I turned back to Temple District, I meet a genie there askin me to go and find the flask to release him. When I ask him where to find it, he says the usual *dryads* *golems* etc.
Not that it disturbs me but I'm afraid that I might come across more bugs.
Thanks for your replies all
