AC -10. Fire giant attack roll 10+8=18: Hit. NO

Its NOT a hit, a roll of 18 does NOT hit AC -10, I dont get how they are calculating these rolls here man, whats the point of AC against these fire giants, must I rely on stoneskin?

Heres some more BS, 6+8=14: hit

5+8=13: hit

what is this bullcrap.

How could you possibly say that isn't a hit without knowing the attackers THAC0?

A few things here:

1) Fire Giants have lots of HD, so their base THAC0 is probably very low to start with;
2) Fire Giants have, er, Fire Giant strength, giving them + 5 to hit or whatever;
3) What do you want, a walk in the park?
4) Stoneskin won't save your bony ass, unless you want to rest every room. You need to use some other tactics to divert/slow them down, take out one or two at a time and/or cause mega damage.

What worked well for me recently was: invisibility/backstab, strength potions, blur/mirror image, project image, mord's sword & other summonses, abi dazim's horrid wilting.

Any protections from fire damage help a lot. I think a lot of the damage they do is fire- based.

If you don't know how to calculate the rolls, why not just ask before going on flaming the game? Fire Giants are big, monstrous giants fcol, they're not to be taken lightly. A lot of HP, a low THAC0 and they do deal some damage, I found them to be one of the easiest enemies ToB offered though. They're not very resistant to magic...

So yes, it IS a hit roll, whether you believe it or not.

To "The-Redmoons"
Have you taken a look to the stats of one of your fighters?
He probably has a Thac0 on the range of -8/-12, because of his high lev. (at lev. 20 your natural Thac0 is 1), plus has mastery/high strenght/magica weapon that further decrease his Thaco.
Your fighter with -10 Thaco can hit an enemy with Ac -10 95% of the time (only miss being a critical miss).
So why a Fire Giant, which is a high lev. fighter and very high strenght should have difficoulties at doing the same?
