You know Kangaxx isnt really tough

If you wait until chapter 6 to do it. Its all the instant imprisonments that you have to worry about, everything else is a breeze. Its like the only way they can make it challanging is give him cheap imprisonment abilities, and then once you protect against that, its a cinch.

This games so one dimensional sometimes =(

hes still easy in chapter 2

Just use Korgan's enrage ability, or let a caster with spell immunity tank

My point was that instead of actually making him tough the designers just choose to give him a cheapo imprisonment ability.

BTW Neato thing I just found out. Gesen Bow hits him with 2 damage despite being +3. The electerical of course doesnt ever hit though.

korgan+MoD = dead lich in 2 hits (image, actual lich) + dead demilich in 1 more hit...

lich saves really SUCK. if they wanted to make him tough, hell why didnt they give him at least decent saves?

"Kangaxx is sooo easy, etc." You know, you BG2 macho types would be a lot more impressive if you actually killed Kangaxx *before* ever reading hints up here or looked at a walkthrough. No offense meant, but sure it's easy once you know what to expect! But I can still remember my first play-through of the game without a single hint, the week it came out. Much of the stuff we all take for granted now was pretty damn difficult without any idea of what was being thrown in my face. I'll never forget the sense of triumph after I killed the game's shadow and red dragons by analyzing the beasts' distinct attack strategies, and tried successive counters of my own (most of which didn't work).

-various spoilers-

Thats awfully cute, youre making numerous assumptions about me. I always find humor in other peoples baseless assumptions =)

But seriously, how do you know I read all the hints and such? If youve read my other posts you would know that
1) I am TOTALLY opposed to reading strategies, hints, walkthroughs, etc, until you've accomplished it yourself.
2) I didnt discover this site or in fact any BG site until long after I had (and completed) the game.

Kangaxx has always been a pushover once you get +4 weapons (like sling of everad, gesen bow, holy avenger, etc), including the first time I played him (well 3rd, I had to reload twice admittly).

Would you like to know my "strategy" for beating Kangaxx?

Summon animals, right beside him. Then have Korgan. Have someone with a sling and someone with Gesen bow. Another fighter with a 2 handed weapon (so they can hit him from the ground floor on the side).

He comes in. Chop chop chop. Cast detect invisibilty/breach as needed.

Oh no Demi-Lich form! Berzerker Korgan and chop chop chop

Yep, did it the first time I beat him, have ever since. Ironically, I tried to use traps. But they were in the wrong spot, he spawned in a different area then the other 2 liches! Plus, I quicked saved after I set the traps, so I couldnt reset them =(

2 spells, and you dont even need breach, his combat protections seem to wear out super quick for some reason. Oh, ring of the ram is nice for the demi-lich form.

Yeah good things Gamebanshee was here to tell me that!

This brings me back to my original point. He isnt tough! I dont do anything! I hack and slash! I use even less prep work then I do for many other "lesser" battles. Kangaxx is a two trick dog. Protection spells and imprisonment. Beyond that he is a joke.

Twisted Rune is much tougher the first time through, though I do credit this site with telling me about it, I never would have figured out you needed a rogue stone for it. (tough until you figure out the chick who gates the demon doesnt cast protection from evil, so all you do is run past shanglar, kill the beholder and vampire when they spawn, then run to the bottom right corner and let the chick and demon fight it out, then kill her, then take shangalor who by this time has probably lost most of his protection spells anyways and used up his time stop for no gain)

in insane mode, his first incarnation, standard lich is quite difficult if your moves are not correct....

standard liches can be nasty if you dont have your quick flurry of kill spells or good weapons handy...

I admit, good weapons are what make it easy. Gesen bow and sling of everad in particular are must haves, because those two combined will have him constantly peppered. Even though your only getting 2 to 8 points of damage from them, he always has spell casting interrupted, which makes his standard form a total joke. And when he goes to demi-lich form, he goes into berzerker imprisonment mode, and if you have Korgan in front of him, he just locks onto him.

Edit- Littiz I just saw your post. Is he smarter? Or did they just like give him more hit points and faster imprisonment =/ Im looking for smarter not stronger. And that goes for nearly all the battles. A change in tactics in all the major battles would make this a whole new game again.

Er, actually, @GNGSpam, I wasn't aiming my post at you, but at somebody else, and didn't want to get into naming folks. But feel free to get defensive if you like.

Thanks.

Gng, thats what this forum is about, to give you info you would never get any other way....

liches are immune to breach!!!!!

waste of a spell, they are immune to 6th level and lower spells, divine and arcane...so everytime you cast breach, it does squat to liches and rakasha...
except remove magic, dispell magic, (keldy rocks agfainst liches,) and melf minute meteors...

you can hit liches all day with fireballs and they would laugh at you...

oh yeah, see gamebanshee tactics for my posted

easy way to beat twisted rune...

after I got my head handed to me 3 times, i got crafty and found if you cast farsight and project image, the clone will not spawn the lich, so clone loaded up each spawn point with 5 delay action fireballs, and had yoshi set traps for lich, they all died instantly, no fuss at all..
proud of that one...

giggle...
