Yet more Cheese Discovered Today: Melf's Acid Arrow, Irenicus, and kicking his butt.

Kickin' it OLD SCHOOL with Melf's Acid Arrow!

I've discovered that if you hit Irenicus early on with multiple castings (I did it twice at once with Imoem and Haer in the Asylum after getting his spell traps and defenses down with a Spell Strike) of Melf's Acid Arrow, I more or less had him at my mercy. He got acidized and unable to cast any spells as the acid would constantly distract him while doing a fair amount of constant damage to the sonofa*****.

I kept it up just wailing on him with Misnc and Keldorn. It was just funny seeing him trying to cast that annoying "Evil Clone" spell and grunting as the message box registered another 4 points of damage done by Haer. I fell out of my seat when he gave up and shouted, "DAMN YOU ALL!"

Thoughts?

urm...this even more evil and sick cheese requires a save game and possibly multiple reloads to get it to work right, but if you do this correctly, this is even more evil than using acid arrows to disrupt his spell casting...

you pass by the room where jon is on the way up to the level where you meet lonk the sane...the door is next to the stair well, and it is locked...you can pick the lock, and this is where it gets tricky...save the game, and open the door...now if jon sees you, he casts a spell called wish, (not the kind your party uses) that kills your entire party instantly, but if you can avoid being seen by him, you toss in about 6 cloudkills, or a few incindiary clouds, and close the door...he will take mondo damage, but he wont be killed due to his minhp item...but he will be reduced to one hit point...once the area effect spells have worn off, move the party to the next floor, and talk to lonk...when you are transported downstairs to meet jon, he takes one hit, and teleports out...because a while back you've damaged him so heavily he is almost dead when you have your big confrontation...

USer....would that work with Insect plague/creeping doom if you ran upstairs fast enough and skipped through all the conversation?

Have you ever heard any more inspiring or logical words? I sure haven't.

urm...no...you see, the point is to fire area effect spells blind into the area, without jon ever seeing you...if you are within visual range, you are dead...insect plague and creeping doom must be targetted...

here is the exact quote from kevin dorner...

#1 - Spellhold: On the lower level, when you return from the "tests" after talking to Saemon, Irenicus is in the lab area. *DO NOT* go in there or he will insta-kill the whole group. Open the door, staying well back. Now chuck a Cloudkill in there aiming in front of the "jar" that the PC was put in, about the width of the jar itself. As soon as the gas bubble leaves, shut the door. Jonny will take heavy damage and even with an INT of 18 is too stupid to figure out to open the door. Wander up and down the hall to force him to seek the PC through the Cloudkill. You can get him own to 1 HP like this, at which point his MINHP1 ring stops him dying. If you don't get him down to 1HP, you can send summons through the door one at a time; he will waste his spells on them. In the following battle, as soon as he takes any damage it's over
