Why can't I save or rest?

This is my second time through the game and I can't save or rest my party. I'm a Sorcerer and I've blown my spell wad. I need rest. I'm playing core rules. It's only day two. I rested once in the first dungeon to juice up my spells. Am I trying to rest too often? Can't save either. And no I'm not trying to save during combat. What gives?

I have this sometimes in the Temple district, try changing the sector, or reloading...

its a fighting-bug. Before i beat irenicus (first time), I casted time-stop when he died. (i missed the whole movie, cause time was "frozen").

anyway, all through hell I couldnt save nor rest. i figured it was normal. But then it autosaved, i died vs irenicus and after i loaded i could sleep again.

so just a bug. you need to autosave it one way and then reload

Are any combat spells you cast stil in operation? I know the game refuses to let my party rest if a cloudkill I cast is still operative. Another time, it seemed to get a combat variable stuck. The combat music continued playing though I'd long since left combat, and I couldn't rest at an inn. I moved into a new loading area, then back again, and everything was fine.

I got you all beat on this one. I was doing the planar sphere mission and I summoned a fire elemental in that place where you get the demon heart using Jaheira. I let the fire elemental live because I had the heart and why kill him. So I left went back to Amn and I couldn't save or rest. I thought maybe if I waist some time it will let me save again so I left and went to Umar Hills. Fire Elemental never went away and I was stuck =(. Had to restart Planer Sphere.
