| | Which is the better bowman? I'm thinking of replaying the game with a good bowman, but which would be better, a fighter with grandmastery in longbows or an archer with the same proficiencies? I plan on using an elf, and I don't want to use shortbows, if it matters. Any advice?

| | Obviously, you don't want a bowman. You want somebody who a dwarven thrower. We've been over this before. Dwarves have a much greater impact on enemy forces when they land, particularly if they're in a bad mood and haven't bathed for weeks.
However, if you insist on your course...I'd suggest the archer, since they receive bonuses above and beyond the proficiencies. (Now watch. Somebody will contradict me, and quote 3,293 equations to prove I'm wrong. It always happens. I never should have agreed to hang around after leaving the late Middle Ages, I tell you.)

| | That would be a good idea for ToB... Somebody should e-mail BioWare and demand that they implememt the throwing of dwarves, halflings, and gnomes as one of the high-level special abilities. Maybe we should start a petition...

| Definitley the way to go... Besides the damage, THAC0, and speed bonuses (remember to d/l the Grandmastery patch from Team BG to get the proper speed bonuses), Archer get additional bonus based on their kit... REALLY helpful...
I'm soloing with an Elven Archer, right now, on my second run-through... I'll be taking him into TOB....

| | Yes, RudeDawg. (And welcome over.) Look for the thread with the cleverly disguised name of "Dwarven throwers."

| | Archer is better, alone for the stronghold(Moondog figurine rulez ), but sooner or later you'll have to use a shortbow for Iron/Adamantitegolems... |
