Where is Vithal? (spoiler?)

I have been all over the underdark, cleared the mind flayer and beholder dungeons and have been to Silver Dragon, and I have yet to encounter Vithal. Is something amiss, or is there something yet I must do to find Vithal? I have approached three portals, so some elementals got loose, but I never saw anything in the dialog about a Vithal getting attacked.

You must cast the spell freedom that is sold by the people. After that he is just north of the camp in the southern area

Thank you, but now I have another question.

Is there a reason I should have thought to cast this spell on my own? I can not think of any reason I ever woule have done so.

JS- if you speak with the southernmost dueregar he talks about vithal and i think gives you a clue that you'll need to cast freedom

I swear I had the same problem .. i had no clue I had to cast that freedom spell .. Firstly it would involve me sleeping to memorize it .. then come back to cast it.
Where would i cast it?
Anywhere, any distant north of the Duergar encampment?

Will go back and do that?

Will the time of when i cast it affect the fellow appearing?

I have already cleared the portal areas .. and gotten major XPs .. will Vithal still be able to draw out a monster from these zones?
That would be neat really .. I could get even more XPs .. those elementals are easy targets!!

You probably aren't at a high enough level to cast it from your memorized spells - put the scroll in your quick slot instead. You can remain where you buy it and use it right away. Then go north and you'll find Vithal.
