Post Where evil partys spend their coin

Just some more questions for you all to answer. Thank you.

1. Heroic partys get 50% off goods they buy, do evil partys (very low rep.) have to pay MORE than normal price?

2. Do Preist of Talos get the bonus priest spells as normal priests if they ahve the 18 WIS.?

3. Has anyone reverse engineered Ribald (or other clerks) to sell the same stuff to evil partys, but give the discount for a lower rep.? I say that like it's the easiest thing to do, but it might not be such a bad idea . . .

4. Are there any +4 Flails or Morningstars?

5. Do bows that are magically +4 (i.e. Mana Bow) count to hit a target (Kangaxx) or is it the arrow? Is it both together?

That's all (for now). Thanks again everyone.

Let's see...
  • As far as I know, low rep parties don't have to pay more than usual, they just don't get the discounts that good-aligned parties get.
  • Yes, all priests get bonus spells for having an exceptionally high wisdom.
  • I don't think so, but if anyone has, be sure to let me know.
  • Nope. Here's the list. Your best bet, as far as flails are concerned, is the Flail of Ages. It's got some great elemental damage, and it will also slow your targets from time to time. In ToB, you'll also be able to upgrade it even further to +5.
  • No, for most bows, only the magical properties of the arrow are taken into consideration. There are two exceptions: the short bow of Gesen, and Tansheron's bow. Both of these are short bows, and they magically generate their own ammo. Tansheron's bow you can pick up fairly early in the game in Trademeet, and the Gesen bow you'll need to have Cromwell forge for you. Just so you know, there is absolutely no difference between short and long bows in BG2.

1. According to the manual, from reputation 9 downwards, you have to pay more at a shop, up to level 3 where you pay twice the normal price. At level 2, the store will not sell you anything.

This is no problem because evil parties will not have a problem with stealing (you 'll need a bard or thief), which is absolutely free.

I think I've found the file needed for changing the discount amount and selling according to reputation, still need to test it. One thing, how do you want the discount to work - only for low rep, for all rep or at a certain level?

Ok, the file works, now how do you want the discounts to work? Tell me what discount you want for high rep, low rep and that sort of things, doesn't have to be specific.

Edit - Oh, and give me your email as well, if it's not in your profile, so I can send the file to you. Thanks

it makes sense for a very low rep party to get a discount. The shopkeepers should be afraid of somebody with a rep of 1. Except at the CC of course.

Except that you can't steal from Ribald or the bonus merchants, which means you miss out on the best stuff or have to (*gasp*) pay for it.

To play evil as a good roleplayer can be hard, but remember that instead of helping people in different quests you can kill them and get stuff worth a lot.
The best example is Drizzts gang, who give over 100000. And remember to shop with the character with the highest charisma

I was a bit dissapointed by the fact that the evil merchants( try detect evil ), did not discrimminate against the more 'heroic' parties.

The things with the merchants is that there is only one file that control how all of them react to certain reputation level. So all of them are the same, there is no difference between the good and evil merchants.

I would definately like a copy of that edited reputation and price file. Email is poof_3009@hotmail.com and I would the price progression to be the same downward from 9 as it is upward from 15. Maybe at 2 and 1 you could get 75% off. I don't think anyone would havew a rep that low anyways, there are too many other serious consequences. And thanks in advance.
